Kiffen would have been the right play. It's true. I fear Deboer is smoke and mirrors.

It all looked good at the time, but we put way too much weight on Washington making it to the playoffs and beating Texas.

Sometimes lightning strikes.

Before Washington,

Fresno as a head coach.
Indiana as an O.C.

and a bunch of minor league stuff.

In retrospect, you have to go back to the Notre Dame hire of high school coach Jerry Faust. Faust was an absolutely legendary coach at a prominent catholic high-school. Notre Dame hired him and he devastated that program.

Now listen up. I know the rule is minimum of 3 years. But modern college football is moving at the speed of light. Someone needs to figure out if this dude, Deboer, has what it takes for the big leagues. And fast.

This was a horrifically disorganized, uninspired mess of a football team with zero improvement over 13 games.

This "offensive genious" fielded a historically bad offense that basically morphed into something out of the 1930's as the season progressed.

His deer in the headlights sideline demeanor made Mike Shula look like Genersl George Patton. And his weird aftergame takes are cringe.

How much of this can be attributed to the worst quarterback and O line in the last 20 years

We have two or three NFL Players on that OL. It was poorly coached.

Yeah, I'm sure the Kiffin that couldn't beat Kentucky or LSU with Jackson Dart would have been the right play for Alabama with the worst quarterback in modern history.

And yet, it's also remnants (minus Latham, Key, Turner, Arnold, Kool-Aid, Eboigbe, Braswell, Downs, Amos, Niblack, Burton, etc.) of the same team that needed a miracle to beat lowly Auburn, an onsides kick recovery to beat A&M, held a touchdown lead over an AAC team in the 4th and was one play away from losing to 4 win Arkansas. Not to mention was blown out at home by Texas.

With literally any other quarterback, not named Hurts, from the last 17 years, we finish the season with one loss... and that one loss would also be a toss up if you eliminate Milroe's pick six. You can only blame the coaches for refusing to bench Milroe (which Saban wouldn't either). Can't blame them for a quarterback who can't see wide open receivers and force feeds himself the ball rather than handing it off (ultimately losing three yards).

OL has been "poorly coached" for nearly four years now.

This Kapilovec character somehow took an okay run game last year and completely ruined it

I have no clue how people are complaining about playcalling for Rees or DeBoer when we have hours of tape of Milroe just completely fricking up wide open receivers

Why are we pretending the dude went 4-9 instead of 9-4?

He beat Georgia, LSU, and Auburn...finished the season with 4 ranked wins.

Turn on the OSU-Oregon game. Two of OSUs best players...were playing for Bama last season. The best receiver last season...playing for Texas. The second best DB that didnt go pro...playing for Ole Miss.

IMO KD made one terrible mistake, which was not benching Milroe from UT on

Kiffin has been at Ole Miss for YEARS. Has his most talented team ever, and loses two inexplicable games against Kentucky and Florida.

I also don't think 'Bama fans would be happy with neglecting recruiting classes and going all in on the portal every year.

If your happy with the product on the field, that's cool dude.

My opinion is that team had a lot of talent and is a mess... and showed zero improvement over 13 games.

What we have here is people who are conditioned to a large and in charge and dominant head coach which we had for 17 years before this season … although he wasn’t so large and in charge last season … thinking that all it takes is for one man to come in here and “fix things” and we’ll win the big trophy with this s**t ton of elite talent that we have on the roster.

Our fan base has always … always … gravitated toward putting its complete faith in one man, one leader.

And they think Lane Kiffin is that one man, that offensive genius, who could have come in here and worked a miracle akin to the raising of Lazarus from the dead and turn Jalen Milroe into an effective quarterback and we’d be playing for the big trophy right now which is our birthright and entitlement as fans.

And it’s complete silliness.

Lane Kiffin would be a disaster as our head coach because he is an immature manchild.

Guess we're acting like Kiffin didn't have the worst loss in the SEC this year.

Wrong. The defense was playing lights out to end the year.

The dumbest QB in 'Bama history shot any chance of the offense improving with them.

This is the problem with many of you on the toddler tantrum crew. Yall vastly overestimate how talented Bama is right now. The OL was average at best, receivers were #2 and #5, both players KD brought in. The RBs were below average all season. QB had like 18 turnovers.

The defense was basically a bunch of true freshmen and sophomores in the backfield. D-Line average, Linebackers slightly above average...and played fantastic despite constantly being put at a disadvantage by the offense

When has Kiffin ever won anything?

He had a schedule set up for an SEC title, a huge transfer portal class of talented guys, a veteran QB and crazy WR talent, and he couldn’t do any better than 9-3. Gave Kentucky their only SEC win. Lost to LSU. Lost to Florida.

Could Kiffin have gotten more out of Milroe? Yes, I believe he could have. But that doesn’t mean we’d have been any better off, and we certainly weren’t going to be title contenders this year.
