I'll give you the strength part, but I disagree with the other two. He gets as many rushing yards as he does because he's at the QB position. So, when he runs, we either have a mismatch with numbers, or the defenders are expecting a pass. I think he's a great running QB. I just don't think he'd be good enough at RB to play for a team like Bama. He's not better than any of the scholarship RB's.

Without actually looking at the film and pointing stuff out, it's pretty hard to show where he is making runs vs. profiting from being a QB, which he certainly does, but there a lot of times where he is running like a true RB. I wouldn't say he's a better RB than who we have, we have a phenomenal stable, but I absolutely think he is as good as most of them, and he is by far the best in space. One of the best I've ever seen, and maybe the best I can remember Alabama having. In the past I can only think of David Palmer, the only guy on the roster right now like that is Josh Jacobs.

I like Hurts as a person, and as a competitor, but he can. Not. Throw. A. Football.

He needs to at least attempt to learn a new position if he wants to play on Sundays. His father needs to step in, and give him some sound advice. Hurts has a red shirt year to learn, and two years to play. That's plenty of time if he acts now. Like right now. Winter workouts now.

Furthermore I'm convinced that CNS infatuation with Hurts will compel him to announce that there will still be a QB competition next year, or even more crazy he may attempt a two QB system that will limit Tuas development/PT.

Switch positions or transfer would be best imo.

I suppose Jalen, his dad (was also his HS coach), Saban and the staff will be trying to figure out soon what's best for him.

Imo, his outlook as a college or NFL QB is not good. In two years he's made hardly any progress developing into a good passing QB. He still struggles to quickly read the field, find the right targets and make the throws.

Imo, he should be evaluated for a potential position change, maybe RB or HB/TE. As a runner, he's powerful, tough, durable, shifty, elusive and deceptively fast. He's quite good at tricking defenders in space into taking bad angles. Idk how his hands are as a pass catcher or if his verticle leap is any good.

He had trouble fumbling early last year on limited running.

FS/SS is probably his best bet.

I'm sure Saban will say there will be a competition in the spring, and each will work with the 1s in the spring. I think it will be more to let Hurts down easy than for real. I'm not sure what else Tagovailoa would have to do to prove he's better in real live football games. I hope (and doubt) that Saban's "infatuation" for Hurts, as you call it, is enough so that he'll f up a sure thing with Tagovailoa. It isn't only that Tagovailoa is better in every facet of the position except running the ball, and he's good at that too, but the team responded immediately to the switch. Even the defense played better.

He can play because he's dangerous in the open field. Amazing how people will kick one of our own instead of lifting him up

True....Guy has been nothing but loyal and a competitor for the UA. Some people don't have enough class to respect his effort and heart. He had plenty of options out of HS and he chose Alabama. Be positive and uplifting, not pessimistic and belittling!

Some were sack fumbles. It seems he's solved the fumbling issues.

Maybe he does have potential on defense.

Saban and his staff can evaluate him much better than we can.

We’ve seen him play for two seasons. He does not have the skill set to develop as a high level passing QB. It’s not a knock against him, it’s just the truth. He looks more suited for a Ga.Tech, Navy, Army, etc. type offense. He’s not moving to another position, Hurts has always been a QB. Hurts would shine at GT.

The whole safety thing is belittling actually.. u don't put a guy there who's used to having the ball in his hands. He had 3 turnovers all year so he clearly values it and is one of best open field athletes in college football. As someone said earlier some don't have enough class to appreciate what kind of kid and value to the program he is. U don't let a kid like that transfer without an alternative and that's why Saban will try to keep him.

I have no earthly idea if he'd be a good safety, but there have been a lot of really good high school qbs that became very good safeties.

Why it would in any way be belittling to play safety is beyond me. It takes a very good athlete to play safety.

It's kinda like the people who wanted to make Derrick Henry a line backer when to my knowledge he never played defense in high school. Maybe my reasoning is wrong huddie but I think he'd be better with the ball in his hands
