I know everyone is bummed over what happened last night. But Prohm is about to be our new coach. He may not have been our first choice, or even our second, but he's going to be the coach now, and I'm okay with that. Look at it this way, at least we're getting somebody who WANTS to be here. Our last coach was never really excited to be here, and we know how that turned out.

Prohm has a good record, and while the competition has been weak, he hasn't had a lot to work with himself. He knows the fan base here and what it takes to get people excited. So the time has come to GET EXCITED. Sometimes happiness is a choice, not an impulse. So let's make this happen. As a fan base, we can help this guy out by having positive attitudes and by being supportive.

Pearl vs. Prohm sounds like a nightmare.

I will support whoever Alabama hires. As long as it's not Rick Stansbury

I've said it once and i'll continue to say it.

Frick Prohm.

This is like asking me to be excited about being terrible.

I remember saying the same thing for Shula.

This might be the most defeatist, pussy-arse post, that I've read on this site. Personally, I'm not opposed to looking at nba guys. I'd be cool with someone like Avery Johnson.

I think I'd also love the jokes that could follow.

"Nick and Avery are so short, they've gotta stand on their rings to get their picture taken at the DMV."

That as a little different. It was May, and who else could we have hired?

Am I the only one that isn't afraid of Pearl at all?

Give it time. He's recruiting and building while we're stuck in the mud. The timing is terrible.

I mean, I guess, but their recruiting hasn't been THAT impressive since he has gotten there. No better than Grant's.

If that's the best we are going to get, we might as well have kept Grant for another year. Same results and we wouldn't have to pay Grant's buyout.

Nobody...but that doesn't mean I have to carry that same mentality in this situation.

He's gotten a couple of big names.

Pearl might be more overrated than stuffed crust pizza, but the national perception is that this hire is to counter Pearl.

Why be satisfied settling for a guy just because he already knows everyone? Do we all forget the end of the Gottfried years?

It seems to me like Prohm wouldn't be a bad choice. I wasn't even convinced that Marshal would have been such a home-run hire, especially considering what we were going to pay him.

And yet people still trash Mal Moore for hiring him.

IF we get Prohm, then it better be no more than $1.5 mil for 3 years. If he doesn't make the tournament after the first 3, he's gone. No buyout. Tell the press and recruits it's a 6 year deal.

He gets paid 500k at Murray State as of march 27th. He was at 300k before then. If we pay him 1.5 that's WAYYY overpaying him.

Pearl will improve the AU program, but that is not saying much. He will take them as far as a cheerleader can take a team on the plains.

For Bama, I have my preferences of who I want and who will succeed but I will support the new coach regardless of the name.
