Bad Losses in my life off the top of my head.
1999-LaTech at Legion Field. I was at this game. They threw like a 30 yard TD pass with like 3 seconds left to beat us.
2000- UCF- Start Up program and the most disappointing team in Bama history
2003- Northern Illinois. My dad paid money to watch the game on PPV. Awful
2006- Mississippi State. The final nail in Shulas coffin.
2007-ULM- Didn’t watch listened on radio, sucked.
2024- Vandy. Vandy is probably the best team of these we have lost to but this is by far our most talented team so this is probably the worst.

I feel the most damage last night caused is now there exists a possibility for the narrative that DeBoer is in over his head. I mean, I can get over the whole national laughingstock aspect of the loss, but the long term fallout is what's concerning.

most talented roster in college football.
This is certainly debatable.

November 13, 1982.
But I am an old fart who understands the program didn’t start in 2007.

Definitely top 3 in my lifetime (and I'm a senior citizen). LOL.

These next two games will tell the tale!
Do we have the right stuff (staff and players)?
Saddle up
I would think Kalen will have a statement about #13 on Monday or the AD will. I assume many of the former players no matter the HC are not happy to see that Crimson jersey embarrassed.

Don’t lose to GD Vanderbilt….
So a loss to Georgia would have been better? It’s still ONE loss.

Didn’t he get beat bad on the long touchdown pass?

This is the worst and least talented team Alabama has lost to since 07.
Time will tell if it is the worst loss. Learn from it and don't let it happen again.
In one week, Alabama showed it can beat any team and also showed it can lose to any team.
What happens from now until the end of the season is up to the players and coaches.

It’s the same offense that gave Saban fits when he was there with a veteran qb playing with his hair on fire. Wasn’t it Georgia State that Saban said “they ran through us like shite through a goose and we couldn’t stop them.” It’s the difference in a team playing like they have nothing to lose against a team that plays like they can just show up.

Some of these "fans" don't know how painful a season can be.

November 1st 1980 was the worst loss in our history.
I'm also old.

That was a stout State team with Johnie Cooks and Glen Collins on defense and they beat us in an old-school fair fight. I’ve never dwelled a second on that one.

Sometimes a bad loss ends up being a good loss. Cases in point :
If Shula keeps his job, we never get Saban. The best loss in Bama history.
The beginning of a process of marginalizing the cancers, with underclassmen like Rashad Johnson (now an assistant at Tampa Bay) rising up and taking leadership of the team. The foundation laid in 2008 actually started with this game and really began to be laid during bowl practice.
Whether the Vandy loss ends up being a historically bad loss that marks the point where this program falls far behind until the next coaching hire, or becomes a good loss that turns a team around and goes on to be in the national championship game remains to be seen. But I don't see this team winning any championship. I hope I'm wrong.

I still remember Do Jacobs fumbling at the goal line. He did it again against Notre Dame losing that game too. He was unfortunately the worst QB of the Bryant era.

It was Georgia Southern and Alabama won that game 45-24. Georgia Southern scored on a kickoff return too, the defense only gave up 17 points.
Alabama also had 4-5 key defensive players out for that game.

Yeah Jacobs was a clod but again State was a hellacious team that year. They had a better quarterback than we did (Bond) and again two All-Americas on defense. I think the reason people are going so ape caca over this loss is because “it’s Vanderbilt” like that is an inherently inferior opponent but 1980 State was not inferior. That was a disappointing loss but I have never thought it was one of the worst losses because it was a fair fight.
1974 Florida State would’ve been the worst loss in 132 years if we hadn’t pulled it out of our rectums.

There have been other really bad losses, but given the fact that Bama was number 1 with a Heisman type QB, plus a top 3 roster in college football. This was up there. Beat a top 5 UGA team and follow it up with a dud
