This was a violation of specific NCAA by-laws. It also gives the perpetrator a significant competitive advantage. It’s OK to steal signals the “old fashioned” way but not like they did.

They were 47-22, 34-16 prior to engaging in this corrupt behavior, 33-3, 22-1 after. No BIG titles in 6 years, now working on their 3rd in a row.

Add to that Michigan’s hypocritical snobbery and it’s fitting the common criminals may have been caught.

They had this “special” staffer standing with the offensive and defensive play-callers on the sidelines in real-time, decoding the signals. It was a tremendous advantage.

If it's against the rules it's against the rules, but everything seems insignificant and small when you can literally pay a player a million dollars to transfer to your school. Talk about a competitive advantage. I don't care about Michigan, but I'd be more outraged if they hadn't destroyed any semblance of amateur college athletics in 2020.

I made this comment on another thread, but this is the place for it. A prominent unnamed coach said Michigan should be prosecuted for stupidity for leaving a paper trail, meaning to me he thinks a lot of people are working on sign stealing.

Nothing will happen from this. Clemson did this for years until teams caught on. Too bad Bama didn't figure it out until it was too late m

Clemson never been nailed down to activities outside the football field. They could always argue, “we noticed this on the football field.” Even though many had suspicions that Clemson was doing something similar to this Michigan scheme.

Many people with no axe to grind think this is very serious. I am an OSU person with an axe to grind, but if Alabama keeps winning I think it deserves to be in the playoff more than blatant cheaters like Michigan.

Dan Dakich [former Indiana and Bowling Green basketball coach] tears into Michigan for about 8 minutes beginning at about minute 7 of the video. Says other Big Ten coaches are really pissed and that he has talked to 4 of them. Because the coaches are pissed he believes that this issue is serious and has legs. Calls Harbaugh a cheat.

*******

Division III player and coach describes his sign stealing for Michigan and being paid out of Stalions personal venmo account. He worked 2 Penn State games. LINK

Interesting to me that Stalions was suspended with pay. Facts are so clear he should be suspended without pay. I suspect Michigan is afraid he will "turn state's evidence" and blab to the NCAA if his pay is cut off.

At first, I didn't think this would be a huge issue but as the days and weeks continue to build, I think Michigan and Harbaugh are gonna get a huge ban/ruling from the NCAA after the season.

I doubt the Big Ten does anything because they want Michigan/OSU to be The Game this year.

Whatever happens, this is Harbaugh's last year in Ann Arbor.

Since Michigan has illegally obtained a significant competitive advantage, I think it should be penalized this year. I would suggest that they be forced to play without a coach [below the coordinator level] on both the offensive and defensive side. For instance, they should be forced to lose their linebacker's coach and their offensive line coach for example.

Ban them from post season play for 2 years. Do not allow sharing of conference revenue for those 2 years. Lot of 5 scholarships each of the two years. Send a message.

I doubt they lose scholarships because it wasn't recruiting violations or impressible benefits. I think they end up getting a 1 or 2 year postseason ban and several members of the Michigan football staff get show cause placed on them.

Read one person come forward already on ESPN about his involvement. More are going to come out this week.

Also OSU fans claim news coming out that UM hacked their computers to get practice details. I doubt but I will laugh if everything out there is true.

Is this worst than what happened at Tennessee?

Wall Street Journal reporting that Michigan has withdrawn a contract offer to Harbaugh that would have given him a very substantial raise. LINK

I'm sure this was a total rogue actor. In the locker room. Holding the trophy. After being on the sideline talking to the OC and DC while each was calling plays in.

Totally rogue, they had no idea.

Rick Neuheisel former qb and head coach states that Michigan received a significant advantage. Says that last years offensive coordinator Josh Gattis won the Broyles award as top offensive coordinator but couldn't last one year as head coach without the sign stealing advantages.
LINK

Later correction. Gattis moved from Michigan to Miami to become offensive coordinator not head coach. Got fired as coordinator after one year.

I know the NCAA normally doesn't work that way but I wish they'd get a move on and take action. This crap of slow drip, drip, drip gets old. If they're going to lower the hammer on Michigan, please do so.

The sad thing is, I still contend that at the end of the day, the NCAA will do little or nothing. Not because Michigan has done nothing (they've crossed the line big time,IMO) but because the media LOVES Michigan and Notre Dame.

Jim Harbaugh could run a pre-school prostitution ring out of his office and it be video taped and the NCAA would still hesitate to do anything. That ain't right but just my two cents, it's the way it is.

Think about this: look how quickly one school provided stadium security footage of the guy sitting in the seat using his phone to video the sideline the whole game. That took some significant effort to find the seat, find the video of that seat, and download the footage.

Michigan opponents are highly motivated to bring them down.

No one will believe Harbaugh didn't know, because Harbaugh is the only person who could have approved reimbursement of the $15,000 the guy spent. There is also video footage if this guy Stalions standing beside the Michigan OC the entire game during at least one game.

This will be Harbaugh's last season as a college coach because, at a minimum, he will get a lengthy show cause by the NCAA. He was doing this shite while serving a self imposed 3 game suspension for other shite.

Below the coordinator level? The coordinators were in on it. Give them each a 2 year show cause to begin immediately.

Not as much as one may think. They are just using a facial recognition program that uses their video footage. May be a little tricky for those that were sent tickets but at that point they know where to look as well.

I would guess most major stadiums have it and capture everyone at the gate entries.
