I was reading an article about Pete Golding and I ran across this excerpt, "Now he’s at the College Football Playoff, in part due to working with former Alabama defensive line coach Bo Davis. His reaction to the first call was still, “Are you kidding me?” and the feeling has yet to really go away.'"

Sounds like Bo Davis still has a good relationship with Saban. And, I've always heard Saban is loyal to long-time assistants.

I think he would have replaced Dunbar next season, but if i remeber correctly, the NCAA upheld his show cause and he cant recruit for another two seasons, so that might be an issue.

eta: update

"However, the penalty was upheld. That means Davis, who is now UTSA's defensive line coach, can't do any off-campus recruiting through April 13, 2019."

With Skype and Bama bringing in the best players for on-campus visits I don't think an off-campus recruiting prohibition is that prohibitive.

It wouldnt be in the past, but we've lost a ton of top recruiters recently, so Im not sure theyd hire him over a good ole bag man.

No off campus recruiting til 2019 is a big punishment, it puts you behind building relationships. You've got to start recruiting 2 years in advance, and now he can't even go to high schools.

You can't build relationships by just social media and waiting for them to visit you, you have to visit them a LOT. No in homes to seal the deal either.

It's a huge punishment that will likely keep him at UTSA until it's over...

Bo Davis to me is the best DL coach in the country. I hope we get him back as long as there are no further issues.

This really needs to be put to bed until at least 2019.

Bo shouldn't have fricked up. I'd be real hesitant to bring him back now. We don't need any NCAA question marks.

I've heard some talks that he would come back to Alabama....... He can take a off the field position for a year.

You have to understand what actually happened with Bo Davis.

He lied twice to Saban and our compliance staff. He was lying to cover Kirby's arse on the recruiting trail (minor violations Kirby made before getting the UGA job) .

The violations were tiny but Bo felt like he had to cover for his friend.

It was and still is a sticky situation. Lying repeatedly is what gets you a show cause (Looking at you Bruce Pearl and Jim Tressel)

His family still lives in Tuscaloosa so him being there doesn't necessarily mean anything, but I damn sure wish it did.

He needs to be brought back immediately. Let him go ahead and start building relationships with future classes.
