Number 5 is the best spot in the playoff.

You play 12 and then the lowest conference champ being 4.

Does it really matter if we make the 12 team playoffs?

Yes. Kind of a clown question to be honest.

I just can't see us stringing that many good games in a row with this bunch to play and win a Natty.

Probably not. Winning the playoff will be very difficult. 11 teams will make it and fail - every year. I’d still like to have the chance.

I’ll never understand the attitude of not wanting to make a playoff/thinking you have no chance so why bother.

The top seeds have to play a conference championship game.

It's like not wanting to make the NCAA tournament. Bama could easily win their first round game and then who knows? This team doesn't look like a championship team, but not even wanting make the playoff? Insanity.

If you don't make the playoff at Alabama you're gonna have a bunch of players opt out and the bowl game prep will not be a good use of time. If you make a playoff game you have several more high quality practices. There is no reason not to want to make the playoffs even if you don't think the team can win it all.

Yeah, I don’t think the conference championship games can continue as they are because it doesn’t seem to benefit the teams that make it, and it fact can hurt them.

That was part of my thoughts on Alabama being in a great spot. Unless something crazy happens, they’re blocked out of the SEC championship game, but they have a great path to a home playoff game, if they win out.

The SEC Championship game seems to be on borrowed time. SEC championships matter, but what happens to the loser? If they're out, then it would be better not to make it, and that's not good! If you are in the playoff even if you lose, that's not good either.

Not good all around. If there are no consequences for losing the last game before the playoff, that seems bad.

We all need to learn how to use the brake pedal. Let's get through LSU and then we can reassess.

Conference championship games seem to be a money-making gimmick at this point. The whole system needs to be revamped to make the "mock" conference championship games an actual part of the playoff structure, as they are in the NFL. Problem solved.

It's not gonna be long before the coaches realize the disadvantage that playing in these games really is, especially for the losing team. And they will voice their displeasure soon enough.

If an 11-1 team makes their conference championship game and loses, then gets jumped for a playoff spot by 10-2 team that didn’t have to play that game, they’re going to be rightfully upset.

It really doesn’t make any sense.

I don't think anyone will be left out for losing their conference championship game. I swear I've heard people say that that would be in the know, but I may be mistaken. If you're top 12 going in you're going to get in no matter what.

And therein lies the biggest problem. Playoffs are meant to be a single elimination deal. These conference championship games should be folded into the playoff system, or they are just a farce. Even at the current 12-team level, there are going to be fans across the country P-Oed that their team was left out for one reason or another. What good is the game if the loser isn't really punished for losing the game? That's the way it works in the NFL.

Miami loses in ACCCG. They're in.
Clemson wins out and is in.
Oregon is in. I think they finish undefeated.
Georgia is winning out and is in.
OhioSt wins out and loses in the Big10CG. They're in.
Tenner is losing to uga and UK. They're out.
PennSt loses this weekend, but wins out and watches the Big10CG. They're in.
IowaSt wins the BigXII undefeated and is in.

That leaves 5 spots.
USC will end ND's hopes.
Tejas wins out and is in but loses in the SECCG.
BYU loses the Holy War and the BIGXIICG and is out.
BoiseSt wins out and is in.
Indiana loses to OhioSt but wins out. They're in.
Aggie loses to USC and Tejas. They're out.
BAMA wins out. They're in.
Pitt loses to Clemson, watches undefeated Miami lose to Clemson in their ACCG and sneaks in with 1-loss.

Oregon
Georgia
Clemson
IowaSt

Miami hosts BoiseSt
OhioSt hosts Pitt
PennSt hosts BAMA
Indiana hosts Tejas

I'd watch that.

Semis could be

Oregon vs BAMA
UGA vs Tejas
Clemson vs OhioSt
IowaSt vs Miami

I'd definitely watch that.

BAMA vs uga
Clemson vs IowaSt

BAMA vs Clemson for the natty.

BAMA by 30 over the fighting Dabos for the win as a 10 seed.

DeBoer beats Kirby twice, Lanning again, Dabo, and the natty in his first year and the rant still wants him fired.
