Ty didn't see the lb on the pick 6. Not an excuse.

Meh not sure I'd trust a system that ranks a qb with 2 interceptions (with multiple opportunities for others) higher than other qbs who didn't throw an interception at all and didn't look to be close to doing so.
I'm not a Ty hater just not sure how they got their results.

Here's the qbs qbr which is more along the lines of what I use to grade qbs.
C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT QBR
Ty Simpson
#15. 11/16 147 9.2 0 2 47.1
Keelon Russell
#12 7/9 78 8.7. 0 0 53.1
Austin Mack
#10. 5/5. 45 9.0 0 0 95.2
team
Average of around 9 ypa is pretty good.

That’s kinda the problem though. He’s been “just fine” for multiple games now. Not saying he should be replaced by Mack or Russell but the downward trajectory is obvious to Stevie Wonder.

It has EVERYTHING to do with what you post because you’re completely wrong about literally everything you’ve ever posted and have probably the worst attitude I’ve ever seen on any message board. Period.

I had a similar post last night that got lost before I could post with QBR and points per possession. Mack doubled up Ty on QBR and Ty was the lowest.
On points per possession:
Ty 4.0
Backups 5.6
Even if you adjust Ty’s, think it would still be 4.0 as you remove the Hail Mary possession, give him 3 points for Talty’s miss, but add in the dropped int as a lost possession.
If you adjust the backups by giving them 3 instead of going for it on 4th and goal (i.e. if the game wasn’t a blow out and our kicker wasn’t an embarrassment, we probably take points there), they would go up to 6.2 points per possession. The team we played was so bad that the only possession the backups didn’t score a TD on, ended right near the goal line (note: I wasn’t watching closely enough in 2nd half to know if our backups had a dropped int to account for).
By any reasonable measure (recognizing our backups likely played against backups), the backups outperformed in this very small and relatively meaningless sample size. They both had less than 3 full possessions IIRC (where as Ty had 6 full and the last possession).
Last point, I’m pretty sure PFF materially underweights game changing mistakes. Having our starting QB on pace for 4 interceptions over a full game against one of the worst teams in division 1 football (both FCS and FBS) is atrocious QB play. There’s really no other way to describe it. We can share blame with the offensive line and lack of running game in plenty of other games, but not this one (see our running stats). Ty played quite bad against low level athletes…something is off, and many of us have known it for weeks. I hope he snaps out of it and plays really well in the IB, but our coaches should have a contingency plan if he isn’t seeing the field and/or giving the other team the ball for most of the first half (or continuing to struggle with accuracy).

Actually I'm usually right and ex-players and others who breakdown film tend to agree with my perspective.
The irony is you're the same guy claiming Ty is injured because you need to find an excuse for his poor play. You dead wrong but will never admit it

I have to say .. I've only disagreed maybe one time with ystar. He's usually pretty spot on. The problem with most casual fans is that they don't really seem to have deep football knowledge, which is fine. You don't to know it all to be a fan. So some get emotional when you say something they either a) don't like or b) don't understand. They can't have reasonable disagreement and actually talk football. And that's ok...it's not knock on them. My wife falls in this category... She just loves the tide and hates for anyone to talk shite about them.

I agree 100%.
I have never claimed to be right all the time but all I'm sharing is what I'm seeing in the film and breaking it down. As you said at times people don't like the facts (when I'm right of course) and tend to make personal attacks, basically do anything but discuss the film I am referencing or the play. It's all good.
Why I tend to be an arse about is the section of very sensitive guys here who get mad and personal because of a football conversation. So when they say I'm wrong all the time and someone posts a video, film breakdown, or perspective from the coaches, players or media which supports what I have said well before; I tend to want to rub it in.
Which makes them hate me more, shed tears, downvote, get madder, who cares lol.

2 picks are not good. Nonetheless, I am confident he will get better.

You think throwing one bad INT...
NOTE: In the following video, click to play, then immediately click to stop.
I have read this enough. 'bad INT', 'I guess the defender jumped', 'inexcusable', etc.
Ty probably couldn't see the defender.
Remember in the following view - You have the benefit from this very long, zoom lens, from a camera sitting several feet above the field to be able to see the linebacker (just note the slope of field). The pass was spot on, the defender made a great play. It also reminds you how far a QB has to lead the receiver on a crossing route, thrown 28 yards in the air. At the start of the clip, it looks like he is passing to the receiver being covered. But the true target is at the left edge of frame coming into view. (again this view is exaggerated because the of the zoom, the receiver was only 4 strides or so away from where the ball was intended).
Ty didn't even know it was intercepted until everyone started running to the left.
PS - The defense played with intensity after the first series or so; the offense not so much.

The fact you think this is a rational explanation or excuses is alarming.
Who knew INTs are okay if the QB "couldn't see the defender"?
You guys are crazy

Ty was fine except for the first INT, which was really not a good throw.
He was not fine. He was late getting the ball out and even catches were behind the WR. The missed FG drive should have been a TD but the receiver had to stop and turn to catch the bad throw.

A grade of 72 against Eastern Illinois isn’t good.
