We will be just as good as Georgia and Ohio State. We are stacked everywhere else.
QB- Upgrade
OL- Upgrade
WR-Upgrade
RB- Upgrade
DL-Upgrade
ILB-Upgrade
OLB/Edge- Downgrade but still very good.
DBs- Downgrade but if they are still very good we will be elite.

And Our coaching staff is a massive upgrade as a whole.

Deboer isn’t Saban but everywhere else is better than last year.

Fingers crossed here. Bond and Burton are both NFL caliber guys. Just not Smitty, Waddle level

Bond is massively overrated off of 1 catch against Auburn and a Good game vs Georgia. Other than that he is just average IMO.

Downs and Amos are the only 2 players worth a damn that left and I will stand by that

Bond was solid, but not great. It's like the guy who scores 20 ppg in the NBA for a terrible team. Somebody had to catch passes that weren't thrown to Jermaine Burton. I don't think he's going to be a first round guy next spring.

It would be nice to have him back since Bama lost a lot of receiving production, but I think Germie Bernard can fill his shoes. I expect Law to step up and for Ryan Williams to make an impact.

Bond never had a 100 yard receiving game at Bama. Nor did he ever have a multi-TD game. Heck, he never had TDs in back to back games.

I'll buy that with the caveat of adding only 2 proven players. I worry when Sayin's college career comes to an end we may be sorry we weren't able to hold on to him.

Don’t forget we added a WR that is the most talented on the roster, a 5 star corner who went to USC (their coach doesn’t know what defense is) and the best center in the country (according to pff).

This team will be good.

Some of these freshmen are no joke. Brown, Mbakwe, Odom, obviously Hollywood. Some are also really underrated and could make an impact this season. Rico Scott and Okoronkwo are two that come to mind.

As long as Downs doesn't have to tackle a USF running back.

How would he have fared with a QB like Tua or Jones?

My issue is at DB with this team and it's more CB than S.

Domani Jackson has one spot locked down but he even has some question marks. If we clean all the USC defense off of him and he picks up the system here quickly then yeah people will remember why he was a 5* but needs to stay healthy and be that CB1.

After that you have a transfer from WF, a solid but from what it sounds like nothing special guy. I think we can all agree he's more of a placeholder.

We have now reached the point of three true freshmen, one a Fall enrollee, and a redshirt freshman who didn't play much last year.

You can look at the recruiting rankings and see obvious talent but that doesn't always translate year 1, let alone day 1. Quality depth is something we've taken for granted under Saban, if we have an injury or two at this spot we may be hurting, especially going into UT and LSU and those offenses.

Front 7 is not a concern and Safeties should be fine. Offense is going to be a machine. Just worried we're going to be in a lot of uncomfortable shootouts but hell we kinda had that two years ago.

I don’t disagree at all, but from everything I’ve heard and read, it sounds like Wommack’s defense will be much easier for younger DBs to pick up than Saban’s pattern matching man-to-man coverages. We had a good number of NFL-caliber DBs ride the bench or struggle in their first year in part bc of how complex Saban’s defenses were.

He's a very good and well-rounded receiver . But he was also Milroe's security blanket and at times felt like the only one he had any real chemistry with resulting in a lot of forced throws.

This WR group is loaded, and they have an offensive minded coach that can actually get them the ball in creative ways with an OLine that can (hopefully) give the QB more than half a second to throw. Should be a night and day difference compared to the inconsistencies of 2023.

Amos

Was almost more pissed about him leaving than Downs considering how well he played vs UGA. Would've been a lock to start this season.

Alabama has six scholarship corners. Jackson is a guaranteed starter. You have Hurley and Mincey behind him. The other side is Jones, Brown and Mbakwe. Jones is an experienced player who was pursued by other teams in the portal. Mbakwe and Brown are absolute studs. It’s not what we had last year but it’s also not like we have a bunch of nobodies. The safety position is actually really good.

Also have to think that the running backs will be better. The top three are as good as anyone in the country.

Am very high on Brown just based on what I'm hearing from practice reports, and I know Mbakwe is a serious athlete.

But imo CB is the hardest position to play in modern day football, and the SEC is always loaded with WR talent. I remember when Bama had to start true freshman Marlon Humphrey and Tony Brown who got torched most of the 2014 season.

Both ended up being solid, but growing pains are unavoidable. Even a stud like Minkah struggled. I still wish Amos had stuck around. He played his arse off vs UGA in Atlanta after Arnold went out.

Actually, it was Kool Aid who left the game. I feel okay about Domani. The other side is a question mark and I expect Jones to start next week. He has experience and I think that as long as he isn’t a liability he will be in the line up until the young guys are ready.

I’m not so sure of this. I felt like he was better than Jackson. Just my total opinion but my first look seemed like he was much more confident in the position.

He would have never seen the field if he was on those teams.

Does the quarterback upgrade imply that Milroe will not start or he will be better than last year?
