I disagree. If a one loss Bama team can’t get in over a team that literally got skull drug by a average big ten team, then that would be insane to me, IMO

I also think it's insane, we have them beaten in almost every metric. I'm just saying we shouldn't be so sure it won't happen. In fact I kind of think it will. They'll hide behind Ohio St beating Wisconsin, Penn St, and I guess Michigan State and say they're a conference champion, but it will really just be about not letting in two teams from one conference because putting OSU in over us will contradict everything they did last year and everything they've said they consider to be important so far this year.

but this whole playoff committee deal is so insane to begin with.

Yep. How many times did the BCS get it wrong? Not that many at all. We should've just kept the BCS formula and taken the top 4 from there. The committee isn't about getting the four best teams in though, it's about making sure everybody is taken care of as much as possible.

^This was my thought exactly. There was never an issue to who was the top 3 teams were. I feel like the committee was just a way to draw up intrigue, and make the committee people feel important.

Well, when you realize we didn't go to the playoff format because the BCS was flawed, but because they could milk more money out of the college football season, it puts things in perspective.

Yea that was the premise of my post. The committee was formed to protect everybody's share (ex. get as many conferences in as possible) of that money if at all possible, not to get the four best teams.

If it was simply about getting the best teams you could've kept the old formula and taken 4 teams instead of 2.

Maybe this has been mentioned already, but y'all do realize that tOSUs athletic director, Gene Smith, is on the selection committee.

The BCS ranking system had some significant issues. The computer models were not understood or transparent. Some of their results defied common sense. So much so that outliers were dropped before avseraging them. The polls used also have flaws, such as voters having biases, the tendency to overreact to the most recent game results, etc.

Those were some of the key reasons the committee model was crafted. It's approach, metrics and "rules" for evaluating and ranking the teams were carefully crafted to ensure an equitable ranking of teams relative to one another.

The CFP rankings produced are clearly better than those produced by the flawed computer models and polls averaged together to produce the BCS rankings.

The committee would not have put Ohio State at 8 this week if they meant to have them in the top 4 in the final. You can't have 2 blowout losses and get in over one loss teams with better wins and not as bad losses

It would not go against anything from last year, as OSU had 3 wins last year better than any win they have this year (up until Wisconsin).

If there is precedent to follow look no further than 2015, not 2016, OSU defending national champs 11-1 with a dominant road win over Michigan to end the year (a better win than anything Bama has this year) dropped behind a 2 loss conference champion Stanford after conference title week. In some ways it’s the perfect comp for Bama, but I’m not sure it’s as perfect for OSU this year.

And vegas favoring Bama over everyone else in the top 10 is obviously dumb. Auburn just beat you guys convincingly 5 days ago.
