Sankey gift-wrapped the SEC for Sark and he STILL couldn't win it. Tejas is overrated and would anybody be shocked if they lose to ASU?? I won't be.
Ryan Day might win a natty this year. I think he has the most talented team. But if he doesn't win it what does that say about him? He couldn't win the Big10.
Kiffin is... well... Kiffin. Kiffin belongs at UF. I hope UF never figures that out, but that's where he could do the most damage (to the SEC and to co-eds.)

I’m not defending this disappointing season, I was making the point that people might not fall all over themselves trying to get this job as they did in the past. And none of them are going to be Nick Saban or Paul Bryant reborn.
I have continually said that the deal with our program transcends wins and losses although that is tremendously important. At least from fan expectations IMO Alabama stands for a certain culture, a certain way of doing things, a certain mindset. Stands for a certain level and style of work ethic and discipline. Stands for football as not just a game but a metaphor for life in which boys are turned into men and driven to exceed what they think their capabilities are by coaches who are placed on pedestals and given enormous respect.
I don’t know how all that is going to play as far as continuing to compete at a high level in an environment where players pretty much have equal power to and some of them make as much money as coaches.

But maybe they would have at least benched him midway through the season...
This is what should’ve happened, but I still believe this guy can coach. Let’s wait and see what happens next season before we run him off.

I don't know honestly who to hire but I want a coach who can hire good assistants and get back to physical football where we at least look like we are the toughest team on the field and are not getting pushed around all game. Like saban used to say, make people not want to play Bama because we gonna spank that arse.

I just want to know, in the history of college football has there ever been a first year coach immediately compete for championships and then have long term success?
Some of yall hanging on to sound bites as if it is indicative of anything. Remember Urban Meyers 2005 halftime speech? Dude seriously looked lost and over his head. These things don’t mean squat.
We will know next year if CKD has the stuff to be head coach at Alabama.

Folks, I've tried to tell you that Alabama football is on the decline, and with the current landscape I see that decline continuing. Recruiting classes have been WAY over-rated recently, with so many busts and transfers and no impact DLs,
Lane Kiffin ain't the answer. He's too volatile and inconsistent, and underachieved with a better DL and QB than Alabama had this season. The Alabama job is simply too big for him.
After perusing some threads here post-game, I am trying to imagine what my mindset would be right now if I were still an interested and invested fan/alumnus who just spent a Christmas bonus on a subscription to Yea Alabama! Ouch!

DeBoer has three inexplicable losses to teams that Bama was supposed to be beat by multiple TDs.

Lane Kiffin probably couldn't even work his magic with milroe

He was the best available and I don’t know that it’s changed. I will change my decision, though if he can’t make tough decisions/adjustments
