While this maybe one of his best coaching jobs, it still leaves a bad taste that he wasn't able to leave with one more natty. At least we won the sec.

“We” weren’t playing or coaching the game.

True but if the rumor is true, no national titles can take the place of time spent with your loved ones.

I truly hope it’s not true. Went through it with my father. No amount of money or fame would make it better.

I agree that it's a shame, but all things considered it was a great season. Saban went out with a much better final season than Bryant did. Bryant did win that last game, but watching the footage of the last months of that season is depressing. Most of the legends in sports do have an unceremonious end. Think Michael Jordan on the Wizards, Tom Brady with his last season that also cost him his marriage, Joe Namath on the Rams, Joe Montana on the Chiefs, Vince Lombardi coaching the Redskins, etc. etc. As these things go, Saban went out very close to the top.

Tbf he probably stole some of the Michigan luster by retiring now.

Better to retire a year too soon than a year too late.
