I miss the days of Alabama just lining up and dominating the other team

I don't like this uptempo offense/ soft defense crap.

I miss the way we physically dominated teams 09 - 12, why did we change philosophies? It was obviously working very well.

In order to get back to this, the secondary needs great improvement as well as the O line. Fix that, we're back to prime form (09-12). Now, when and if we fix this, if you take into account the level of WR and RB talent, now we're talking maybe the best team in school history

Some of y'all need to understand that the game has changed and performances like we saw in the past are going to be very rare. Offenses are just too good to shut down teams week in and week out.

I think our playcalling showed a lack of trust in our oline. Still don't think it was the right move to not run Henry behind Cam Rob all night, but the rest of our line outside of CR and AK were very substandard.

I am thinking our 2016 line should be pretty dominant. We have the 2014 & 2015 kids ready to contribute by then and a junior Cam Rob.

I could see it being like 2011.

Can't see him staying all 4 years. Too good.

I think he typed it wrong. He'd be a Junior in 2016.

They were soft before Blake Sims.

We could at least run the ball in 2013 between the tackles. This year it was a mess.

This defense isn't soft. Alabama changed the offensive playing style because it made Blake Sims a better football player. Ohio State had a better football team this year. It happens. You young guys need to realize that you can't and will not win them all.

What? The defense gave up huge play after huge play, and couldn't stop anyone on 3rd and long. It wasn't a terrible defense, but by Bama and Saban standards, it was soft.

This is the kind of offense Kiffin brings. The offense we ran had next to nothing to do with Sims.

Their RB had 100 something rishing yards in the first quarter, I'd say we are pretty soft.

I agree with this, it's not like we are the only cfb defense that isn't dominant anymore, none are.

We lost the Iron Bowl in large part due to our inability to convert some short yardage situations. Our running attack wasn't great last year either.

This was our worst o-line since Saban was hired. Kiffin masked a lot of our deficiency's with a mobile QB.

Let's take the 12-2 and SEC title and move on.

I think next season it is bound to be better.

C-Rob was our best OL this year, he'll get better.

Dom Jackson will move people, he should start.

Ryan Kelly is bound to get better, though...

Grant Hill has looked good before.

Still one spot that'll be wide open. I've been saying Casher at LG. Not a huge guy, but an athletic guy you can put at LG for pass pro purposes and then pull him around on run plays.

Lester Cotton is a beast. Don't think he manages to start, but he'd move people if he did.

Yeah, our running game wasn't great in 2013. We were pretty bad in short yardage situations. IMO, it could've been a lot better this year if wanted to commit to it more.

This is what gets me: There used to be a philosophy that the best way to defeat a great offense is by keeping them on the sideline. You dominate the TOP and suck the air out of the game. That doesn't necessarily equate to running every down, but you do lean on it when the situation calls for it. That is what we did well in 2008, 2009, etc. We don't do that anymore. We have becomes slaves to balance. When its 2nd and shot, we dial up cute pass plays instead of moving the chains with a run. That isn't MTAQ. We simply ignore what seems to be working right in front of our faces.

How is having corners that get smoked on big plays a philosophical thing? Yall are looking for some kind of meta-narrative, when maybe the simplest answer is that some of the guys at certain positions just weren't as good as in the past. Occam's Razor, son.

I don't understand the love for Kelley by most. He has got his arse whipped for the better part of two years. He gets blowed up on two many plays. When there is penetration in the center of the line a run play is doomed from the start! I saw Bosa throw him like a rag doll on several plays last night.

I agree. But he has started for the last two seasons, so he'll be starting next year. He shown a good ability in pass pro in the past, and knows what to do in a zone scheme. That said, he gets tossed around like a rag doll, as you could.

Hassenauer will be the guy in 16, I imagine. But for now, Kelly knows the calls.
