I know it's popular to rip on our schedule, but we really did have a tough final stretch

LSU
Miss State
Citadel (I know, I know)
Auburn
UGA
OU
Clemson

Outside of Citadel (which presented it's own unique problems) there was really no break. That's the grind that the SEC presents. We had an absolute deathmatch with UGA, then spend 30 days getting ready for arguably the most prolific offense in CFB history, then turn around and prepare for a great Clemson team. Not included in all of that is staff turnover and the problems/work associated with managing those distractions.

Meanwhile Clemson's last two months:
Louisville
Boston College
Duke
South Carolina
Pitt
Notre Dame
Alabama

A lot went into Monday's loss and I really thought Clemson's soft schedule would lead to them being a little more shellshocked on Monday. However, it looks like it led to them being more fresh, more confident, and more prepared. They theoretically could've started practicing for us back in November if they wanted to.

Our schedule was tougher than Clemson’s BUT the major mistakes we made was the difference.

A pick six
Missed extra point
Kicking off out of bounds
Another pick returned about 40+yds
Wills committing a false start on the 1 foot line
Thompson allowing a bomb
Smith falling down allowing a 74yd TD

Clemson didn’t make mistakes and ours were all really bad

Swap Clemson for Bama and i would like to see what Clemson would do during that six game stretch against some of the toughest opponents in college football.

Yeah - looking at the poster who shall remain nameless that said Monday night this Bama team had no heart.

I have no doubt that Clemson would probably go undefeated in that stretch leading up to the title game. However, a stretch like that is mentally & physically taxing. Even the Citadel required a week of practice to prepare for the triple option. Everything about us was on film.

Meanwhile Trevor Lawrence never got tested, but he was able to develop confidence within his offense.

Not using this as an excuse because Clemson is a really, really good team who did everything they needed to do to beat us and we've benefited from easy stretches of games in the past. However, it kind of explains why the dam sort of broke on Monday night. It was a perfect storm and this was just one aspect of it.

I am not taking anything away from them but it pisses me off that people call out Bama's supposedly weak schedule and the ACC is a joke football conference. Everyone not named Clemson sucks at the present time.

I agree with what you posted. Two things stand out for me… We still scored just three points since the first quarter. With all the Talent and depth we have on that side of the ball, that’s where I lay the blame for this game.

Also, since we all live to point out 99 plays in 2016 without a penalty, I watched the game ad critically as I could on a television network. I couldn’t find a lot of mistakes Clemson made nor infractions That should have been penalized.

We just picked a bad time to have a bad game and yes, I believe we would beat them at least half the times if we played 10 games.

According to Cubelic, a Clemson staff member told him they basically spent the entire bowl prep on us. Seemed to pretty obvious considering they were doing things they hadn’t done all year.

Still ridiculous that they got to play ND and we had to deal with OU.

Clemson knew from Day 1 that ND wasn't a threat. This was always about Bama vs CU.

I know they obviously played their best game and we played our worst but it’s really damn frustrating that we got beat worst than some of their acc competition. Smh

Another reason why expanding the playoff is dumb and unfair. The teams that play difficult November season schedules (read: SEC West teams) are penalized by longer and longer stretches of tough football.

This does not explain Saban looking totally clueless at the half and calling a fake FG.

I think they shot their was prepping for Oklahoma and had nothing left for Clemson.

As it turned out OU wasn't much to deal with either. They had the worst defense in years and Kyler wasn't Deshawn Watson as hyped to be. Mental mistakes, inexperience and coaching changes finally caught up plus Clemson had none of those issues. Clemson was better on that day and maybe better period this season.
