As I understand it, this is not public information and no one external to a program really knows what a University's total NIL is.

So I suppose the On3 NIL data is pretty faulty.

What I have heard is our NIL program is near tops.
Yet it always seems the consensus is that we are at a disadvantage to certain schools in the new environment. And intuitively, that would make sense.

But, I've noticed a few things. First, look at The Aggies. Three classes ago, they bought a historically good class. But where have they been since.

Did they just stop spending? If so, why?

Oregon and Texas have the most resources. Why do we out recruit them?

I'm just trying to understand the lay of the land.

It’ll need to be much better to still land the best classes. We haven’t had to spend as much because players took less to play for Saban.

It might not be as critical anymore in this new era with the NIL, transfer portal and 12 team playoff. Look at Michigan as well this season. Washington too. They aren’t loaded with NFL talent.

DeBoer is a great offensive coach. He’s going to get way better players here than he did at Wash and he won a bunch of games there.

I honestly don’t know enough about the in’s and out’s of how the collective works and what they do on a daily basis to be able to give it a rating.

The NIL situation is basically the same at all the big schools but Aggy and Horns really can outspend people when they want to do it. Everybody else has to manage how much they're spending on the roster and the money generally is about the same between the schools at the same "tier." A player getting recruited by Georgia, Alabama, and Ohio State is probably getting roughly the same offer from each of them (if the player is equally valued by each). The difference is still mostly still about the relationships though.

How could we possibly upgrade it enough to be competitive with a Texas?

Seems like an impossibility.

Maybe if we find lithium under Chandler Mountain and we create a few new billionaires who reside in this state.

Maybe one day we will be the Alabama/Blackrock Crimson Tide and our troubles will be over.

God bless our sport being ran by bankers and lawyers. Just how we all wanted it!

Renegotiate with Nike for far more money in the apparel deal.

Bill Battle screwed it up before he retired going a lot less

Bama should have close to $500 Million

Alabama should have their own network too on ESPN

From what I have inferred from interviews, we got away with paying less than other programs because of the advantages to create value for yourself under Saban was so much higher.

That's all gotta be re-tooled and the boosters better expect to throw money around. In fairness, they got to avoid paying coach buyouts and all that bullshite the last 17 years so they should have it.

But the school can't directly pay players yet.

Conspiracy on this but Battle was one of the founders of the organization that handled licensing university branding to apparel companies. I wonder if he gave them a sweetheart deal on the way out the door for scratching his back for all those years.

If the state allowed the Football program to go public, we could sell stock.

Do any other states allow that?

I doubt it. But I heard someone float the idea of major programs going public.

If they were able to tie Tide Pride points to donating to NIL, I would do it.

The Texas schools are in a league of their own compared to anyone else in college football. We are competitive with any school outside of texas.
