I personally think the guy is much more suited to be a college coach than an NBA coach.

He always come across so positively, even in his coaching style. He is also a great recruiter.

I like the guy. I like his enthusiasm and I hope he stays for some time. I think he outdoes Wimp an CM and I am looking forward to being relevant again.

Seems like we really made a slam dunk hire

It was a great hire. Out of the box thinking.

He's done a really good job here so far in his first 2 1/2 years, but the jury is still out on him. We've got to not only start getting to the NCAAT, but making some noise.

Oh we’re going to the tournament. And we’re going deep.

We don't have to make a super deep run, IMO, for Avery to still be a good hire. If he can get us to the dance and maybe even just a win or two, I'll still be buckled in. We're off to a good start, and when we get more players back we should really be rolling.

That was controlled chaos the other night. I’ve never seen anything like it as Bama. Once he gets those young guys under a little contol, watch out.

The jury is out on Avery ? Smh ...He almost got us to the dance his first 2 years with a shite show of a roster along with beating some more talented teams. Of course the next step needs to be taken but he's been a great hire and has brought substance and enthusiasm back to this program

For sure, excitement factor alone is worth it as it seemed like all the energy and enthusiasm had been sucked out of the program in the couple years prior to his arrival.

Avery was the perfect hire. I don't think we realized it at the time, but he is a perfect fit for Alabama. He is making basketball important to the students and that is something Grant struggled with because he wasn't a promoter. Because it's a football school, we need basketball coaches like Avery who aren't afraid to promote their own program, but at the same time embrace the success of other sports and even feed off of it.

Hence, the jury is still out on Avery. Don't get me wrong, I think Avery is going to take us to places we haven't been, but refusing to think that the jury is still out on Avery is forgetting the recent past. I know in Grant's third year, I felt similar to how I do now (not quite as excited, but still).

Really? I was hopping off the train by then. But, I agree with your points about Avery. So far, so good, but we'll have to see how it goes from here before we claim him a rousing success.

At the start of his third year? We were preseason top 25. We had Green, Mitchell, and the 5th ranked recruiting class according to Rivals coming in. Would have been a weird time to hop off.

He's been very good so far in recruiting and overall coaching.

Like Busey said though, this is the year to bust the door down. So far so good.

I may be misremembering. It might have been that December slide in his 4th year that made me lose faith completely. I do know, that by the time the third year came around, I was beginning to see some trends that made me leery.

Very true. We all wanted to see what he would do when he got some elite players in. We all can agree that this season is so far so good.

At the least he has shown his ability to recruit. It’s been what 20 years since we had this type talent?
