Najee has been good but IMHO hasn’t lived up to his billing as the #1 or #2 back in America

Neither has Cam Akers. My biggest complaint with Najee is that he doesn't seem to run with conviction. I just wish he would see the lane, hit it, and not worry about juking or hurdling people. Najee has it in him, i've seen shades of it. Just run dude. Just run.

Like Henry I'm sure Najee is the type of back that needs 15+ just to get warmed up...he touches it 22+ and he's over 150 and a score

He's fast enough.

He will be our go to back next year... I don't think he's had the opportunity this year. He's a bruiser and a hard runner

Najee hasn’t really impressed me much during his time here. He had one run where he hurdled a guy and then stiff armed another, but that’s it. He’s never broken a long TD run and outran a defense.

I see the same thing. He has a tendency to dance way to much. Sometimes he would gain a few more yards by just putting his shoulder down and going forward. He plays very upright and never seems to plant that foot to push and explode forward.

He'll need to stay for his senior year to even have a chance at carrying it that many times. Tua's efficiency as a passer combined with other really good backs is going to make it tough for any back to consistently get 15 carries in a game. We had four games all season this year where a back got 15 or more carries - Damien had two of them and Jacobs had two.

I would add that anyone talking about him being a disappointment is being pretty harsh. The guy has done nothing but produce when given opportunities. He's at 6.5 YPC for his career - 6.7 this year. He's not a home run hitter but he's a very good running back.

shite on Cam Akers. We're talking about Najee. Cause Cam Akers isn't doing much it's ok for Najee to do the same? Come off of that.

How is Najee not doing much? He’s got 700 yards rushing and 6.7 ypc despite being a third option.

And, he nor any other RB we have may never get those kinds of touches because of the quality of QB we have starting and project to have in the future as well as QB coaching we are now giving our QBs. I tend to think of Henry's Heisman year as an anomaly based on the amount of carries he received.

Because those numbers while good are numbers any decent Power 5 RB can put up behind our offensive line. As a #1 or #2 RB coming out of high school it's not too much to ask that Najee hit a few long TD runs by now. Najee has to improve his game to become elite. Right now he's a serviceable big college RB or FB.

On the slant TD pass, Najee missed his block and thus, Tua got smacked after the throw...which is why Najee hasn't played more.

Then explain why none of our other players are averaging at least 6 yards a carry this season

Give them more touches and they would.

He ran 4.66 before he came to Alabama.. I'm guessing he is probably close to 4.59 somewhere..

Can someone explain that for me? The times?

Jacobs and Harris both have more touches than Najee...

That said, Najee has had a few garbage time carries which help him a little bit.

All three of our backs are really good.

Damien and Jacobs have more carries... and yet average 0.8 and 1.3 yards per carry less.

Yeah, he’s WAY slower than Henry. Henry has elite top end speed. Granted it takes him longer to get to top end than smaller guys.
Look at the length of his stride once he gets past the LBers.

We're all WISHING #22 to be a better player than he is going to be. He wasted the better part of two years trying to shake and bake instead of making a cut and running north and south. He started about 4 games back making progress toward becoming a one cut back. If he can get the shake and bake out of his system then he could become a solid back. We'll see. I hope Josh returns for 2019 and if so he will be the guy...hell he already is the guy. I expect #8 to go this year to the NFL even though it will be 3rd round money. It will be hard for the kid to pass on a million dollar bonus.

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Najee have the 2 longest runs of the night?

He’s gonna ball next year when he gets more reps.
