That’s weak as shite. There’s gotta be somebody better that’ll play us. One “decent” OOC per year is getting old. And like others have said, enjoy playing the 4th qtr in front of about 40k fans.

Premier home and homes get planned years out, and teams like Houston, Boise, USF, UCF, BYU, etc. are going to want home and homes because they can get those from teams like Arizona, Cal, and Georgia Tech and they gain nothing by doing a one off against us in Tuscaloosa. I will say I am sick of scheduling FCS teams though. I know the playoff committee doesn't care about those wins, but I don't even think they should count towards bowl eligibility.

Then let's play some fricking road games.

Get off this high horse of only being willing to go on the road for teams like Texas and Notre Dame.

Where did I ever say I only wanted us to play road games against Notre Dame and Texas? The reality of the situation is that until these games against West Bumblefrick College for Blind Orphans start to have crowds of 40k in the 1st quarter instead of the 4th, they aren't going to try to set up a series with a team like Houston or Boise and sacrifice a home game one year.

Well I cut my Tide Pride seats down this year from 8 to 4.. I know it’s not that big and someone else will pick them up that has been on a list.. but it’s because of the scheduling. I’m not paying the amount I do for 3 good games a year. Maybe others will do the same. I wrote a letter about it, but like you said. Until everyone makes a stand nothing will happen, and my seats will just be picked up and the machine will keep rolling

I mean I no Big12 fan but if Texas can play 9 conference games, USC, and Maryland all in the same year then why can't we have a similar schedule.

I'd rather us play instate schools than these teams. At least they will travel better since they are closer.

You didn't, but I was kind of going off of this quote...

As far as the Texas/Notre Dame comment, I'm basing that off of our recent past and future schedules. Our athletic department seems to think that we're above playing road games at schools that aren't blue bloods (Oklahoma in early 00's, Penn State in early 10's, Texas and Notre Dame in the next 10 years.)

You aren't sacrificing a home game if you schedule it right.

Sweet baby Jesus! Was Miles College and Slippery Rock busy that day?

That's both embarrassing and indefensible. Better not slip up and lose a game because with an OOC slate like that, 1 loss and we're out.

That's just fricking stupid. We'd be better off keeping the neutral site games than going on the road to some G5 school.

We're not going to book a road game for some 30k seat stadium in Boise. It was dumb enough playing at Duke in 2010, except they're a fricking ACC team.

Schools like Houston, Boise, and UCF can't come close to meeting the ticket allotment we have in a contract.

If I'm spending money to go to a game in another team's stadium, it goddamn well better be someplace like Norman, or Austin, or Ann Arbor, or State College.

Ticket value has been deteriorating significantly the last two years. I know from personal experience, because often I end up selling mine.

You can get a pair of seats to La-Lafayette on StubHub right now, U4 PP Row 19, for $37.78 for the pair. Those are far from being the worst seats in the stadium. That's probably around half of face value. There are many pairs for under $42 for the pair.

That's the thing about being a season ticket holder now...you have to buy 3 tickets that are almost worthless.

Since we clearly aren't going to start scheduling 2 big name OOC teams in one year, you can sure as frick schedule 1 h&h with your Oklahoma's, USC's, etc and 1 h&h with a Boise, Houston, or Maryland. You aren't missing out on your big name OOC each year.

That's much better that the piece of shite schedules they have planned.

Michigan, @Colorado, La Monroe, UT Martin
@Michigan, Houston, Southern Miss, Citadel
Ohio State, @Houston, ...

Those three schedules are much more exciting than anything we have planned right now. Also, it gives you a little extra benchmark at the beginning of each season.

Im fine with that schedule, but there are two problems with making it happen.

The first is a permanent move to 7 home games per year.
Currently with the enormous payouts from neutral site games, we generate the revenue of roughly 9 home games per year. We've already agreed to put those off and go to an average 7.5 home game payouts per year (with the addition of ND and TX). I don't think you'll see any Bama AD ever commit to even less revenue. ESPECIALLY since it was recently disclosed that the prior AD cost us $120 million in Nike revenue.

The second is finding a number of suitable opponents that have open dates and are willing to play us. We've already seen the ACC have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to come up with Duke for a neutral site game because there were no other takers. Most of P5 wants no part of playing us. And once we find the willing their schedules have to align with ours, not just for dates, but for home and home years.

Why don't you give them to some of the fans who constantly complain that they can't afford to go to games? It's a nice gesture by you, and you make a family very happy.

Why doesn't the University of Alabama do that? Instead of making me buy the tickets to those three games, I'd be perfectly happy with them just giving them to one of those families you mentioned.

Meh on Maryland. I hope I never see the day Alabama stoops to playing a home game at Boise, Houston, UCF, etc. I know we've done it in the past, but we ARE better than that. Let the Mississippi State and South Carolina type schools do that.

The thing with the UT-Martin game is timing. Alabama (and Auburn too) has decided they want a layup game the week before the Iron Bowl. The problem is almost every single school plays a conference game that week. Looking at that week this year here are the Power 5 teams not playing a conference game that week:

UNC (Western Carolina)
Florida (Idaho)
Auburn (Liberty)
LSU (Rice)
Texas A&M (UAB)
Alabama (Citadel)

So everybody is playing either a FCS team or a CUSA team. The teams playing the CUSA teams have already played a FCS team. Hell, Idaho will be Florida's SECOND FCS team this year.

Since the SEC still is very reluctant to schedule 9 conference games, I don't see a major change in our scheduling anytime soon.

I would rather play 10 conference games instead of playing that many subpar games
