Fastest in the state. That's pretty damn fast. I think it is almost a certainty that he will get a chance to return kicks this fall.

I'm hoping Ruggs can be better than Kenny Bell. He's got the great straight line speed but hopefully he can do more that run a go route.
But at 10.53 he might be more Mike Wallace than Kenny Bell.

Last spring both Calvin Ridley and Robert Foster tested at like 4.32 and 4.38 in the forty so I think both might could have a legit claim in a foot race. Of course Tony Brown was a legit track star as well. Come to think of it, I think Brown may actually still run track at Bama.

Ruggs ran 10.42 a couple (2) weeks ago.
State Meet is coming up in 5-6 days.
40 yard dash and 100m times are not perfectly correlated.....but guys that have run 10.4x in high school are the guys that have run 4.2x/ low 4.3x at the NFL Combine.

Percy Harvin- 10.4x (ran 4.41 on injured ankle but was legit 4.3x when healthy)
Reggie Bush- 10.4x

He's a football guy running track. I saw him play several times in person. Dude can ball.

AA is the fastest even with his injured groin.
He likely runs a sub 4.4 healthy.

The Robert E. Lee standout recorded the top time in the Class 7A 100-meter heats on Thursday, running it in 10.77 on a windy day marred by several rain delays.
“It wasn’t great,” Ruggs said. “I got kind of a slow start, but I’ll take it.”
He said the wind and the delays made the day difficult. The start of the meet was pushed back until noon due to heavy overnight rain in the area. It was then delayed for another hour by a storm right as the 100-meter heats started.
“Both were a factor,” he said. “Obviously, the wind holds you back. But the break also is tough because you want to get something to eat before you run, but you really can’t. Still, you don’t want to starve yourself. It’s kind of just part of it.”
The 100-meter final is scheduled for 10:10 a.m. on Saturday. Other qualifiers Thursday included Karon Delince of Central-Phenix City (11.08) and Auburn football signee Noah Igbinoghene of Hewitt-Trussville (11.16). Ruggs also will be part of Lee’s 4X100 relay team on Saturday.
A 6-foot, 175-pound wide receiver for the Generals, Ruggs caught 38 passes for 664 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior. He also played some quarterback and earned Class 7A Back of the Year honors. He will have little time to rest following his high school graduation.
He reports to Alabama on May 31.
“I’m excited to start,” he said. “I’m ready to get in school, get used to everything and get to know everyone on campus. I can’t wait to get there.”
Ruggs should be another piece to an already talented Alabama wide receiver group, but he said his first-year goals are realistic.
“I just get into the flow of the things, adapt to school and do the best I can to get into the rotation,” he said. “We’ll see what happens from there.”
Ruggs was the second-ranked 2017 prospect in the state, according to the 247 composite rankings behind only five-star defensive end LaBryan Ray, also an Alabama signee.

Fast is good but I think track times, and in particular 40 times, are overrated when it comes to football. If they were done in full pads, I might think otherwise...just because you can run fast without gear doesn't necessarily correlate with running fast in it...
I recall George Teague...can't remember his 40 time but pretty sure it wasn't close to Lamar Thomas's time. Yet Teague ran him down badly from behind in the '93 Sugar Bowl, with no angle, making up 'bout 10-15 yards in the process. And Thomas was a sprinter on Miami's track team...one of the best plays in Bama history (and the best non-play)...

Tony Brown they say ran a 10.37 100meters at the SEC Outdoor meet yesterday. He did not even qualify for the finals??
