It isn't a BS defense. Just this season a player got clocked by a fan rushing the field.

This of course meant nothing to the media or fans here because no one seems to actually care about the players unless using them for a political point.

I have no comment on Burton's actions, but u/ih8vols on r/rolltide gave a firsthand account of what happened and posted a video that provides a bit more context as it shows Burton walking from the sidelines to the tunnel: Reddit Post

Please read my statement before replying. Because did she attack Burton? No so it is not the same. No matter how hard you try and defend him.

If you support one of our players hitting a fan that is on you.

Why does the video make it look like Burton went at two people. One falling down but neither came at him? I read some post that he may have been involved with two different fans.

With how benign that push was, it did no more damage to her than it would have a guy. Still the same principle of not putting your hands on anyone, but Jesus Christ the whole “he hit a woman” thing is so played out. He should be punished but it’s not like he teed off on her. White knighting over the smallest of things because it’s a woman is why we’ve gotten to the point that men get arrested for their wives beating the shite out of THEM. Punish him, sure, but he did absolutely 0 damage and it wouldn’t be as big of a story if it was a man.

I made it clear it does not matter man or woman. If he can not control his anger there is an issue and he had no reason to confront her in any manner. She was no threat to him.

In that video I am curious. At the 16 mark I see someone on the right side of Burton go flying backwards but he never touched the person it appears. At the 23 mark if you look on the far right of the screen away from Burton(not involved) someone gets knocked to the ground and almost flips over.

UT should be sued for their neglect allowing it to happen. that does not excuse anyone for their behavior but it could have all been prevented.

Add: at the 16 mark actually some guy comes running in and runs into Burton and bounces off of him. Burton at that time was just walking and did not raise his arms or do anything.

The 23 mark he appears to be ducking but does reach out. From that video it looks like he knock something out of the fans hand as they go behind him to pick something off the ground. The last shot of him I have no idea what he was swatting at but again to the right someone got knocked down hard but had nothing to do with Burton.

That should be the end of his days at Bama. Inexcusable.

Totally agree. I'm not gonna call for Saban's head if he does the suspension route, but if that's my team he's gone.

I see a bunch of pushing and taunting by the fans. UT should have done more to protect the players and the fans, but it seems they encouraged it. I'd be real surprised if anything happens from this.

If you watch that video on Reddit, it is chaos on the field, he’s been bumped into numerous times before he does anything.

I’m not defending him just because he is an Alabama player, he’s not really produced much for the team, so loosing him wouldn’t be a huge deal.

I'm defending him because of the situation he’s in. None of us were there, and the video is grainy, you can’t really tell exactly what’s going on, or why he reacted the way he did.

This is really nothing, he barely touched the person who shouldn’t have been on the field in the first place.

You people calling for him to be dismissed from the team, or contemplating calling for Saban’s head if he doesn’t dismiss him are nuts.

This is why fans are not allowed on the field after a game.
They should not be out there harassing the other teams players, after an athletic competition. They lost, they are probably in a bad mood. The winning home team fans should not be out there.
PERIOD

Self control. Self discipline. Funny most of you folks complaining about the lack of both in this team during game time are the same ones defending this. He lacks both and it showed itself. That is a shining example of why this team is undisciplined every Saturday. It’s a spill over from how they carry themselves.

That's actually a good point. I do admire how hard the team fought to the end, but you make a good point all the way around, here.

That is not comparable. If you think he should be done for putting his hands on someone that is fine. Comparing this situation to a penalty during a game is a BIG reach.

I think his point is to compare it to team-wide discipline and seeing a literal all time record high number of penalties. (correct me if i'm wrong, guy)

It’s absolutely carry over and comparable. People are who they are. If lead an undisciplined life it’s absolutely going to carry over into every facet of life. He got emotional and upset and reached out to swat at a woman. Our entire team, all year, has “anxiety” and plays the most undisciplined football I’ve ever seen. Self control and self discipline is not something to be turned on and off. It’s something that’s lived and practiced every day.

Burton did more damage with his hands in 30 seconds walking off the field than he’s done for Bama all damn season on the field

I'm just wondering if you have this same level of self-control. Seems fans love to demand what they can't even do when it comes to players..

The reality is the game just ended he is in a bad space emotionally (he knows he has responsibility) and people are rushing toward him, bumping into him and taunting him.

Doesn't excuse him brush that girl aside but that situation shouldn't be allowed in the first place. A will repeat a player was knocked out earlier this season and no one cared.

People shouldn't be allowed to invade the field. It's dangerous for players and staff.
