Byrne needs to demand the cream puff SEC schedule Sankey gave Texas for their first 2 years in the league. That is total bullshite. Maybe if UGA and Bama and Florida aren’t running the gauntlet they were given, things might have turned out differently. Instead, Sankey gave Texas a free pass to Atlanta for 2 years

Wouldn’t surprise me. Is what it is, it’s like trying to pick up a strand of cooked spaghetti. We just need to take care of business moving forward and take it out of the system’s hands.

We could never have a schedule as soft as Miami’s if we tried. SEC schedule won’t allow it. But it works for others outside the SEC as well. If SMU doesn’t schedule BYU, they are undefeated in regular season. There wouldn’t have even been a debate of SMU vs. Bama in that instance.

Boise State is the only one who benefited from playing a hard OOC game, so they could show they belong. There’s no reason for any P4 team to schedule a difficult OOC game, that’s what the committee just said.

I said the same thing.

We will cancel all challenging OOC conferences games and use OOC games as strategic bye weeks during the season just like Penn State have done for years...

When people whine about weak schedules and SEC top teams not being scheduled against each other they should all remember how they cheered a very inferior SMU team to be in the playoffs just because they resent the Alabama brand

We don't have to.

Just ban opponents bye weeks against us being over 2 a season and strategic place games against Hawaii, Austin Peay and Southern Miss before major conference matchups.

These other conferences are playing by that rule yet we are trying to show how tough we are with hard games.

frick that

Exactly well said.

They set a precedent then they evisceration it because they want their conference to have an easier home game so they can generate even more revenue

It’s time to make a single set standard and stop making up the new rules or whatever the frick they do every season. 12 different assholes opinions and whims is a shitty way to run a sport especially one as big and important as College football

With the conference being as big as it is, a in conference schedule can certainly avoid good teams, too ADs can lobby for this.

Sankey certainly gave Texas a Charmin soft SEC schedule. Why?

I was expecting Greg to say Bama gone.
Again look at ND...they have it made and will be in contention in top 12 just due to name recognition.
Texas really should have went the independent route.
Would have set in motion a new perception.

Oregon beat Sconnie 16-13 at Camp Randall.
BAMA stoned them.

Good to see Byrne tweet about the SOS stuff but he was foolish to schedules these future games to begin with. We have schedules with multiple major P4 teams in one season. There was zero reason to go all in on those without seeing how things played out first. At the very least, the SEC schedule gives you a decent SOS. No need to ramp up the risk when there’s no certainty of a benefit.

But he’s also been quiet about the officiating (specifically the UT and OU games) and hasn’t said much about the schedule inequities. He needs to start being more aggressive about protecting our interests.

I get it but Bamas OOc schedule was not that difficult this year. If they just win one of TN, Vandy or OK they’re in and n the seccg.

Got it, but the second paragraph of his Tweet isn’t really about Bama not getting in this year. We know their conferences losses cost them this year. That second paragraph is about the future.

To be fair, these were scheduled several years ago when only the top 4 were getting bids.

It makes even less sense to schedule multiple P5 teams with the four team playoff.
