"It’s been probably one of the more fun seasons of football I’ve been a part of,” Morris said at Alabama’s Sugar Bowl Media Day session. “This team, I feel like it’s a different kind of team than I’ve ever been on, guys having fun. I don’t know how I would explain it other than to say it’s been different and it’s been fun to be a part of.”

I like this guy's attitude. I am interested to see what kind of run he is going to make at starter for 2015.

If Alec Morris is our starter in 2015 we are fricked.

The meltdown from our fanbase that happened after Blake Sims became the starting qb would look like a small campfire compared to the Chernobyl that would take over this and other Bama boards if Alex Morris wins the job.

no way. morris would be welcomed as the starter.

i dont think the accuracy is there. but i wouldnt rule out the possibility of him competing for the starting role. he needs to tighten up his throwing motion a bit. but he wont have to work at punter this spring. we're good at that spot.

Really? Every "who's gonna get processed" thread starts with Alex Morris. He would not be "welcomed" at the spot at this time. Now, if he comes out guns blazing during A-Day he would definitely win some over, but if he comes out looking like Blake did on A-Day there will be melts everywhere.

bullshite. It would be VERY similar to the Sims meltdown. Everyone thought Blake sucked arse before the 2014 season, how would Alec Morris being the starter be different?

Morris has a good arm, has decent height, and knows the offense just as good as anyone if I had to guess. Haven't you guys learned to not count guys like him out?

Well, for starters Alex didn't even win the second string job last year. Thus, more melt material for Bama fans.

Second, we still have those who have their hearts set on Coker.

Third, he was our backup punter. Going from backup punter to starting qb is going to throw some for a loop.

Fourth, he has no Cooper to bail him out of some questionable throws. Whoever wins the qb job this year is coming in at a big disadvantage with inexperienced WRs.

Then you have to factor in that Saban has yet to get his name right.

Plus, Sims had his mobility on his side for fan support. Alex doesn't have anything that sets him apart from the other qbs. Maybe the fact that he can come up to the line and pooch punt if necessary

I haven't counted him out, but I'd probably put him just in front of Barnett under the category of least likely to win the job. We will see though.

None of this would cause any bigger a meltdown than the one for Blake, that lasted well into the season.

When did Cooper "bail" Sims out? I don't even remember Cooper making that many circus catches.

I hear ya, but I don't remember too many people clinging to this aspect of Sims's game for hope.

Sure we are gonna catch lighting in a bottle two years in a row. If Morris is our stater it means Coker is shite and Bateman is shite and Cornwall is shite and Blake is still young, not shite yet.

I would be very disappointed if Morris was our starter next year. Maybe I'd be wrong and he'd be great to good. I don't see it though

I don't really think that it was lightning in the bottle. I think that it was a bunch of arm-chair coaches jumping to conclusions. Blake always had the talent.

Okay?

Cornwall is still young too.

See post where I posted Blake Sims's picture.

I'd welcome anyone as our starter, but he's not the guy that should win the job. He's probably a "does things right" guy, but we need to start favoring our talent.

We should have learned this after McElroy. He had a miserable spring and fall camp before leading Alabama in 2009. Given, he had his ups and downs, but he played substantially better than any of us thought he would.

It's anybody's guess really. Given his trajectory at Bama, no one should be shocked or melt if he wins the job or falls to fifth and transfers. Everyone's already forgotten that he was lightyears better than Blake on A-day two years ago (not trying to imply that he's going to be a better QB than Blake).

And anyone who thinks he changed positions to punter simply hasn't been following the team that closely. He punted on A-day because we were in between punters. He never stopped being a QB.

The problem now is that Greg McElroy wouldn't win a title in this day and age. Defenses just can't carry teams the way they used to because the game favors the offense. A good to great offense is needed to win a title now. Just ask FSU and tOSU.

Sure he would. McElroy did have Ingram and Richardson and Jones and Maze. The last time you heard a broadcaster talk about 2014 Alabama's RB's yards after contact was never.

10 days out, and Morris is VERY MUCH in the race. Figured this would be an entertaining bump.

The perception of Morris has changed I would hope. He caught fire early on due to the fact that he hadn't solidified himself as a QB fighting for the starting job. And of course because he was the backup punter. Now thar everyone realizes the Coker hype was a farce, people are more accepting of a QB who has been in the system for a while, but doesn't stand out as a QB who Alabama can rely on to win games- just don't lose games.

A few springs back, I thought he looked really well. I trust CNS and our Whizkid O.C.

We are going to run a lot this year, back to basics.

I'm pretty sure I read an article about all the work he's put in to improve his QB skills during the times when most students and student athletes were partying it up.

In hindsight Sims got a boost from just being on the field at runningback and working his tail off when his chance came.

For what it's worth I've read several post they thought AM could be the starter. It may have been on a different board at another time, but if he's ahead of the other guys he could make a very good QB.

I read so many "if Sims plays over Coker we'll never stretch the field enough to win the SEC"

If you can't first manage a game how will you ever win one?
