Alabama was also penalized, but in a much lesser way. There was no indication of a postseason ban or a scholarship reduction in the negotiated resolution the NCAA published Thursday.

Alabama's penalties for Level I - mitigated violations include three years of probation from Feb. 1, 2024 through Jan. 31, 2027 as well as a financial penalty of a $5,000 fine.

What the NCAA is requiring Alabama baseball to do
As part of the negotiated resolution, the Crimson Tide must ...
* Retain EPIC Global Solutions for an educational program to be given to players, coaches and administrators on gambling harm
* Continue a comprehensive compliance and educational program on NCAA legislation
* Submit a preliminary report to the Committees on Infractions by March 15 that explains a schedule for the program
* File annual compliance reports to show progress by Dec. 15 each year of probation
* Inform baseball prospects in writing of the three-years probation, explaining the violations that were committed. That information must be provided before official visits
* Publicize information about the nature of the infractions with a link to the public infractions decision on the athletic department's website and in the media guide for the baseball program
* Provide a letter to the Committee on Infractions after submitting the final compliance report. The letter must affirm Alabama's current athletics policies and practices conform to NCAA regulations

Bohannon used an encrypted messaging app to provide insider information about the starting lineup before Bohannon shared the lineup with LSU on April 28. Alabama pitcher Luke Holman had been scratched late from the starting lineup for that Friday game, which Holman later confirmed was for a back issue.

"Bohannon texted, '(Student-athlete) is out for sure … Lemme know when I can tell (the opposing team) … Hurry'," the NCAA wrote.

Then the bettor on the other end of the texts tried to place a $100,000 wager on the game. He was only allowed to place a $15,000 bet, though, and when he tried to bet more, the staff at the sportsbook in Ohio declined them because of suspicious activity.

Same. No one knew what he was doing and there should be no expectation that they did.

I don't see why the program can be punished for this. It actually put them at a competitive disadvantage as it was. NCAA should have just given Bohannon the show cause and done nothing else, but I think they might be angry about their impotence in football because they've been slapping around some programs in other sports recently.

Meh. Maybe. Many posters have talked about posts in in-game threads of multiple games about him making obviously bonehead decisions about sending or holding runners at third. If message board posters noticed, maybe someone in the athletic department should have been paying attention.

Well deserved penalty but still sad how Bo threw away his career for such a silly reason.
