Is it possible that those behind 75 are so bad that the staff can't replace him? We're counting on 74 to return and save the day when in fact he struggled last year. Two transfers taking spots from all this Nick recruited.
We'll see.
We'll see.

Hate to do this guys, but if he sees the field again this year, it's a travesty. Dude had 180 lb guys blowing his arse up, he's not ready. God love him
As much as it looks and ..was bad but several were tacky. Let's go back one year and were ready to exile Kaydn Procter to Elba.... But he worked to be an asset by EOY

Poor Ol line calls on occasions.

Formby's play last night was unexpected. I thought he had pretty nondescript game from a fan's perspective versus WKU. That is a good thing for an offensive lineman generally speaking: if I don't have anything bad to say then he probably graded out fine.
He looked physically outmatched by their strong-side end who I doubt is the top player he's going to see at that position this year. Perhaps some of the line calls changed to compensate for the shake up on the left side and Formby just couldn't execute? I don't know but it is sort of wild that he was not really a big sore spot in game 1 then played perhaps the worst game by an Alabama OL in decades.

Maybe he was a little nicked up?
Or USF saw something exploitable on film?

He had a bad night but 2 of his holding calls were garbage. He pancaked one dude and they called holding. Another one they called 5 seconds after he made contact with anyone when it was clear Milroe was going to score
This. I don't have a problem with the criticism he's receiving because his technique and execution was poor often throughout the game.
But those two calls he did not deserve, and the one where the DL submarined and he just laid on him had me irate given what he did is literally taught to kids at camps around the country as clean

even the TV guys said they didnt see any holding on that play.
another thing is that if the QB doesnt step up in the pocket it makes life tougher on the Offensive tackle, especially if the QB keeps backing up.
Watch the Texas QB to see how the QB should step up. Big plays over and over.

The Alabama co-captain and offensive coordinator each asserted that the positives and negatives from the offensive line are a full front-five effort."

I'm wondering who is making the protection calls at the line, if it's Milroe or Brailsford. As Aaron Murray pointed out, there was a play or two where someone just got whipped, but the majority of the pressures were from incorrect protection calls leaving a free rusher.
Some of the pressure was also from Jalen Hurts syndrome. Instead of turning the ball loose to a spot before the break, Milroe wants to see a guy open, thus giving time for the pressure to impact the throw or force him off his spot

I believe this is something that also occurred during the Michigan game.

One thing I've noticed this year is how much success we've had with guards pulling. Most of the RB TDs are because guards were pulling. I don't remember that being as common in the past, but I could just not be remembering.

That's due to scheme. KDB prefers a man blocking scheme with pulling guards. Saban, at least in the last few years, was using a zone-blocking scheme.

I try not to be one of those fans - BUT - Williamson (head ref) always has it out for us

Agree 100%. Not only with Milroe but past QBs as well. Sometimes a dual threat QB can make things very hard on the OL. If they don't step up in the pocket and keep backpeddling it makes it hard for the OL to know what the QB is doing. Other times the OL just flat out blows their assignment.

I remember Bear criticized an officiating crew one time. He said, I can guarantee they will never officiate another Alabama game. Stevie Wonder could have seen the holding that wasn't called against the DBs defending Ryan Williams multiple times.
