I went back and found a highlight for the 2015 Iron Bowl to confirm what I thought about Auburn's only TD in that game. The amount of talent we had was incredible...

Yep. Their only touchdown came on a fluke tipped pass that their player caught and ran in for a touchdown on a third and long.

I think what has me concerned is that they have an additional week to prepare for us this year and we've seen how they do when coming off a bye when they played UGA. The first half they were unstoppable on offense.
The bye week and cupcake game before teams play us needs to be looked at, but I know nothing will come of it.

To be fair, we play a cupcake this week. Our opponent is much worse than the one Auburn is playing.

That game was a slog but if that tipped pass doesn’t happen, I think they quit and the score becomes a little more lopsided. We had started leaning on them hard and they weren’t doing anything on offense.

Understood, but AU still had a bye this past week while we had a hard fought physical game with a top 10 team

How inconsistent can you be? If you say the defense giving up 38 was an anomaly, you have to say the same about AU scoring 31. And Alabama has a better D than Vanderbilt.
In the end, the most important factor is that the best TEAM almost always wins this game. TEAM meaning a combo of talent and cohesion. IMO, in 2 of the 3 Alabama losses at J-H in the last 17 years the following was true:
2013: Alabama had more talent but there was a lack of cohesion on the team at least partly due to the QB.
2017: Alabama had more talent but the Jalen/Tua controversy had many of the coaches and players who wanted Tua about to mutiny against CNS. It’s easy to have sympathy with CNS who waited til it was almost too late (2nd half of NC game) to make the change. If there was ever a high profile player that he almost regarded as a son because they were so much alike, it was Jalen Hurts. I believe that JH’s conscience bothered him not because he was wrong, it wasn’t his call, but because to his credit, he knew Tua was better for the team. So, he was conflicted and had lost all confidence heading into AU. AU had the less talented, tho they were good, but better TEAM. because they were more on the same page.
IMO, this Alabama team appears to be very close - at least equal to AU.

Those were also 2 very good Auburn teams. One that was a kickoff return away from a national title and another that barely missed the playoff and had just beaten Georgia by 30 a few weeks earlier.

I don’t care at all about these games from past 30 something years. They don’t mean anything really.
My concern comes from being a team that cannot run the ball playing in hostile environment on the road against a good defense. If we cannot run the ball (again) and they don’t have to respect run, then they will tee off with pash rush. Oline is a 1/2 second slow in pass pro on the road with crowd noise and silent count - and all pass, no run is a recipe for problems.
Offensive coordinator needs to have a great game plan.

Then this topic wasn’t for you.

The ability to run the ball is not why we lost to OU. Daniel Hill averaged 4 ypc. Jam needs less touches and we need to stop turning over the ball. It’s hard to win a game when you’re -3 in turnovers.

I dont think anyone on here is scared of another team.
I disagree, there have been plenty of posts and threads saying they’re worried about playing at Jordan-Hare because they always get lucky.
What direction are you worried about?

Winning is indeed winning but I would much rather not lose 10 years off my life watching Alabama play in Jordan-Hare.
