I had high hopes but this team is a disappointment particularly on defense.

This is what you get When two of your supposedly better players are upperclassman that come from mid majors (there’s a reason they were at a mid major) They’re not athletic enough and then they run into these super athletic long teams in the SEC and it shows

To add to your list:

10. Oats

A team goes on a 12 point run - no timeout. Down 5 with 1.7 to go he is screaming TIMEOUT - I have a 5 point play to draw up. Literally timeout retarded!

Florida's top 3 scorers are mid major transfers. That said, we have to employ a different defensive strategy next year. We can't lean on our defense at all and we don't know how to clamp down late at all

Need the Sooners to beat Missouri tonight, which they are doing right now.

Remember when I said we could be staring number 5 in the SEC in the face? Looks like it will be number 4 though

First off, get players who can BREAK PEOPLE DOWN.

GET A BIG WHO'S FLUID AND A NATURAL SHOT BLOCKER! Donta Hall type.

Their top scorer and top two rebounders (that whipped our arse on the glass) are not mid major players.

This was a strange game for us we couldn’t do much right at all. Yet we finished just 5 points behind. Have no idea what went wrong. Every missed shot, every loose ball ended in their hands. It was a comedy of errors for us.
Basketball wise this was the worst week for us and it’s not over yet.

He wasn’t this game, which is surprising with Sears guarding him some. Clayton is definitely quicker than Sears

Not remotely ready to wave the white flag on this team yet. We're still highly likely to be a 2 seed. We still have the best offense in the country. Hopefully get Reid back healthy for the tournament and some other guys healthier as well. Saying our ceiling is the Sweet 16 is a little too pessimistic for my liking.

I don’t think Reid is the missing piece. Especially when he’s a freshman role player who has been out for a month or more. Just getting some minutes out of him is all we can hope for. He’s not turning our fortunes.

Johnni Broome came from a mid major, Dalton Knecht came from mid major. I wouldn't limit options.

It’s not strange when it becomes a pattern, comes down to hustle and just being smart.

What do you think? A three seed at best in the NCAA tournament?

Walter Payton played at Jackson State too, doesn’t mean it’s normal to expect winning talent to come from that type pipeline. The numbers say they don’t. I’m not saying Sears or Grant aren’t good for the team, just feel they have major limitations against athletic teams.

Neither are a Knecht or Broome athletically either, not even close

Ehh, probably lowest 2, media is pushing Michigan State hard. Depends on how the team responds in the SEC tournament.

Like has been mentioned, we have seen similar runs last year. Hopefully it starts clicking

The complete lack of defensive variety and adjustments is inexcusable for this level. So much more we could use.

We needed to stay healthy. Not have Grant regress. Have Cliff be quicker and consistent. Use Malette all season and probably Naas. Youngblood never showed he was quick enough on film last year.
Should have used Sears off ball from the start to have Philon and Aden move comfortable at point at this time in the season. Used Sherrell more earlier in season to be more confident now. Etc. Etc.

Just too many deficiencies within the roster at the moment. I like pushing tempo but we have got to start emphasizing better decision making with the ball if the drive or shot is not there. And there are things we could do defensively to push tempo that don't spread our defense out so badly and allow dribble penetration

The amount of times we let opponents dribble into the lane is way too high. It's pretty much the worst thing you can let happen on defense. It's not all a lack of hustle with on ball defense. Oats wants his ball defender to always press the dribbler to force tempo and its killing us combined with the drop coverage.

Golden is a great coach. He knows exactly how to scheme our offense to take away the perimeter and funnel the action inside the lane, where at least one of his endless supply of skilled 7 footers is waiting to contest. Meanwhile those same 7 footers can pick us apart offensively passing out of the high post.

They are perhaps the worst matchup in the country for us.

I’ve said it before but I felt better about winning at Auburn than tonight.

Ultimately we screwed the pooch by melting down against a Tennessee team that we are much better than.
