Good morning all. Long time lurker of the BAMA board and this is the best place for getting information about the team for someone living out of state.
I know there is a lot of back and forth post about Milroe, team cancers, coaching, etc. but something that I haven't seen discussion about is could some of the playmakers be laying down on Milroe? There were some uncharacteristic pass drops Saturday by CJ Dippre and Williams along with terrible OL blocking which has me wondering if maybe there is frustration and lack of effort from the offense unit?

They wouldn't lay down with the playoffs on the line.

Based on his sideline actions, screaming and yelling at his team mates and then sulking by himself with a blank stare, regardless of the playoffs/SEC championship why wouldn't they lay down on him? Crazier discussions have been made lately.

The drops were actually good passes. That's why they were dropped. Receivers weren't expecting that

It's simple, for the second time this year the coaches didn't have the team ready to play. They are not used to the grind of the SEC and are used to not preparing for teams that aren't having good seasons.

And from the consistent negative drumbeat of your posts, the only way to fix it is to get a “Southern coach” in here, I know …

I’m not buying this, they weren’t as motivated as Oklahoma but that doesn’t mean the staff mails it in preparation wise
It shows the new coach isn’t a motivator like the GOAT was, and there will be games where Bama can’t match the energy level of their opponents
This is a major issue and if the new coach can’t see this and adjust he won’t last long
Having the best X’s and O’s in the world doesn’t matter if your players aren’t fired up to play and the opponent is

Are you not watching the games? Was Alabama prepared to play against Vanderbilt and Oklahoma? Two 5 loss teams?
People can blame Milroe all they want, but didn't the coaching staff last year have Milroe as the starting QB? Didn't that team lead by Milroe at QB win 11 straight games, go 9-0 against SEC teams, win a conference championship and go to the playoffs? Both losses last year where against playoff teams.
What is the difference? The coaches.

Being fired up to play, usually lasts about a quarter.
How many times did it happen under Saban? Teams come out fire up like crazy when they played Alabama, then reality set in the 2nd quarter.
Saban wasn't big on his teams playing with emotions. He wanted his teams to play to a standard.
The team was unprepared and no adjustments where made by the coaching staff.

It took the "blame the coaches" Milroe surrogates' a few days to come out again. Milroe is the reason Alabama didn't win every game last year. He stunk it up aganst Texas. He stunk it up in other games Bama pulled out of their asses. Bama could have easily been a 4 loss team last season. He was not that great against Georgia in the SECG. A QB with a decent passing game and Bama would have won by double digits. He was awful against Michigan. Once again, a decent passing QB and Bama is probably national champs.
You Milroe surrogates seem to forget every bad Milroe performance last season was due to Tommy Rees.

What would the perception of him be if he hadn’t completed the 4th and 31 pass ? Is he the starting quarterback again this year ? I have serious doubts.

Anyone who watched a single minute of film, had any idea who Venables is as a coach or had bothered to look at any advanced analytics knew OU could play defense.
Anyone who could read a depth chart or looked at their stats knew OU couldn’t pass.
We looked like a hung over coed flag football team Saturday and that’s on the coaching staff, period.
Worst coaching performance since at least Shula IMO.

The thing they've forgotten about that game is how awful he was before that play. He ran 15 yards over the LOS and thew the ball!
Good QB play in that game and Bama is not having to throw up a prayer on 4 and 31.

Exactly. He had two other illegal forward pass penalties in that game. That final throw was pure luck. I don’t blame Isaiah Bond for moving on. But I’m thankful that he made the play to help us win.

Huh? These guys want to play in the NFL. That is their ultimate goal. No player is going to lay down and drop passes. That only hurts their future value and they all know this.

The defense and defensive gameplan deserve criticism but the DLine simply got manhandled by a group of undersized nobodies. It looked to me like a simple effort problem. Some of those guys looked like they had fired one up before the game.

Can you conceive of the fact that last year was an abject miracle and what happened should be considered an aberration and not an expectation?
You could conjure up the ghost of Paul Bryant in his absolute prime and put him on the sideline and he’s going to struggle with a team led by this quarterback.
I stand by my statement. It’s obvious from your posting history that you simply don’t want this coach because of where he’s from.
