We have nailed the portal for the most part but it looks like we whiffed on our 2 in-line tight end targets who never even get snaps (Troy and WVU kids).

Yep. I figured they were both dirty work players to cover down for Cuevas being a big receiver. Just didn’t pan out. Edwards been getting snaps.

I don’t remember seeing Riley in the last few games. He played good early and seemed to run hard. What happened for him to not even be playing any more?

Too bad Justice Haynes transferred. He made the right decision, though.

I'm concerned about 2 things:
1) Is Deboer more concerned over liking a OL coach over one that will get the job done.

2) Grubb is great at passing but does he genuinely know how to get a good OL coach and establish a real running attack. Grubbs play calls tell me he doesn't understand playing tough ball when we need 1 or 2 yards. And he definitely hasn't installed toughness in the players. We are way too finesse.

I mean…when we still play musical chairs with the OL 9 games into the season they are gonna be discombobulated.

We should have had a set 5 starting with the UGA game and stuck with it

He had a carry for 5 yards against LSU.

He played great against LSU.
Last two games especially, he’s played good. Still has a tendency to hesitate, and sometimes still takes bad angles, but he’s improved a lot since the beginning of the season.

I'm being sensitive or the guys who follow me around and downvote anything I say?

Anyways, Formby isn't our only issue... however he gets beat frequently on run or pass pro and it just takes one bad link to screw up a play.

Our OL coach has Proctor looking better every week and has our OL far better than how we started the season.

At a certain point we have to hold the individuals accountable when the running play is right yet we aren't getting runs because one OL whiffs or our RBs tippy toe running with their eyes closed.

I will say it's on Grubb to use Hill more than Jam. It's also on the OL coach to sort out Michael Carroll or someone else for RT.... however these guys are smart, there is no way they don't see Formby's flaws. Heck against SC they gave Formby a participation trophy of lineman of the week yet he gave up the most pressures and uopn review of his snaps made the same mistakes he made against LSU

Man this was so bad. Fornby, Jaeden, and Jam were just miserable

Our scheme this year just leaves guys unblocked to blow up plays often. It’s a terrible match with the personnel we have

Grubb is an OL coach. He coached it from 2007-2020.

When a former O lineman in that video says that it isn’t scheme, it’s execution…I’m going to defer to him because he had the cut ups to back it up.

Grubb is the OC. The o line coach answers to him. If it isn't working at this point, OC is just as much at fault as the O line coach.

Even if our blocking was good, play calling gets real trashy at multiple times in a game. Makes no sense where grubb calls at times.

This isn't true.

We literally have one of the best in the country but we're going against very good defenses so everything isn't going to work perfectly.

You guys can ignore people like me all you want and go with your headcannon, but there are multiple people like Brooks who breaks down film and resounding agree Grubbs is great even if he makes a mistake here and there.

Even some of those run plays should have been big gainers but if the RB isn't ruining the play the RT is... if not the RT, it's a TE, etc..

You can't have consistent success when someone is consistently messing up.

Even our QB took 14 points off the score board with bad throws

Who's to blame when inconsistent is the only consistent theme? We have so much talent that we cover for the mistakes. Truly amazing..

Well yeah the scheme isn’t designed to let those unblock guys blow up plays. It’s just happening with the guys we have

I will use two #75"s, one from our past and one from the current team to make a series of comparative points. Barret Jones and Formby.

Both had/have heavy slow feet. Formby is a little bigger. There are 5 things Jones had that Formby does not and those differences make all the diffence..
(1) Jones had a huge mean streak
(2) Jones was a high intelect tacticion
(3) Jones was an unquestioned leader
(4) Jones had better body control
(5) Jones had "GOOD on GOOD"practices every week so he applied what he knew from full speed and contact before he ever got to game day rather than having to ramp up to the speed of the game to make adjustments on the fly.

Uprooting a big /strong/mean DT by an OG needs to have help from a tackle or center before the help climbs to the second level. That is an operation that requires experience / timing / trust that can only be gained in GOOD-on-Good practice. The OC and OL coaches have not lived with facing the SEC level of DL play every week until now. Some of the blocking systems and practice for exectution needs to be upgraded.
