What is your take on Kool-aid as a DB? JMO but he might be a better fit at safety.

2016 was heartbreaking. Last night sucked but we are returning a stacked Football team.

This. After that Clemson loss i couldn't watch or listen to sports for like 2 weeks fearing I might hear or see something about that game. When I went to bed last night I was a little disappointed but excited about next year...I'll probably still steer clear of sports talk for today but be right back in tomorrow.

That's definitely more of a Bear88 question

I do wonder if we see them try one of the current CBs/STAR guys at safety assuming Battle leaves. With Ricks coming in and assuming JAD stays, we will have 5 CBs for 3 spots (Ricks, JAD, Jackson, KAM, Branch, Moore).

Agree with your views. It would be nice if we could get and keep a good OC for a t least 3 years, along with a good OL coach. Recruiting remains solid. Bama has a solid offensive and defensive philosophy and seems to adjusted to athletic QBs. The future of college football is murky at best with the portal and NIL. It will be a fun ride.

My thoughts on how things will look going forward largely depends on who replaces BooB and Marrone, assuming both are gone. We will have the most talented team in the country next year. It's just a question of whether we have the staff in place to take advantage of it.

Kool Aid has the body to play corner or safety depending on what the staff wants at the position. I will say that I thought he played well this year when given opportunities. He looked good early on, disappeared for a few weeks and then was thrust into the most important games of the season . UGA had like 220 yards passing IIRC and a lot of that was on two plays to Pickens and the TD to the other wideout . I didn’t think he played bad at all. Offenses are going to make some plays but I think it is way too early to give up on Kool Aid as a CB

Kool-Aid played as well as the other guys that started the year and then were injured. JMO that he might be a real star at safety with his size. Jackson got baptized under fire last night but hopefully he will take the lessons and improve.

Kool Aid can excel at either . Very talented . Like others have said for two years , Jobe would have been a great safety IMO also

Yea, not sure why anybody would be down on Kool Aid as a player at this point. He's talented and young and played pretty well all things considered the last 4-5 games.

Concur with everything you said and want to add ...

Kids nowadays are less "coachable", IMHO. They are inundated with information, primarily through social media, good and bad.

And, NIL will make this worse. Just watch how aTm's haul this year in recruiting turns out. In 3 years, half of them won't be on campus.

These next couple of weeks will be interesting to learn which players leave for the NFL and which players are ready to move to the portal. I guess it is possible some potential portal guys will wait until after spring drills to enter. I believe they have until May 1st to be in the portal and still be able to play in this fall.

Disappointed, but not upset.

Someone said in another post, Alabama is playing with house money, both with Saban and this year in particular.

We’ve all complained about BoB (me included) but I don’t like constant turnover at coordinator. He said it we the most difficult transition of his career, to adapt to Alabama and not the other way around. I would like to give Bob another year with the playbook and with Bryce.

I feel very optimistic about next season. The best two players on offense and defense are returning. Will has been a leader, that will continue. Would like to see Bryce become more vocal in his leadership.

Two great transfers, one on offense, one on defense will have immediate impact on the team.

If we missed on some freshmen player evaluations, I’ll call it “Covid bust”, because of the one off non-contact recruiting year.

Other than that, I am wearing my Alabama football shirt today…proudly!

Cope Level 1000: This loss, and the injuries that forced guys into playing time, puts us in a better position to win it all next year

2014 loss to Ohio State - A little conflicted. Knew that team had overachieved a little, but also wasn't sure about where we'd be moving forward with our QB situation/defensive issues with the spread/etc.

People forget We were in total control of that game and almost went up 3 scores. 1-2 miscommunications on defense cost us that game and allowed a very talented OSU to reel us in. We should have won

2016 loss to Clemson - Devastated. Probably the most down in the dumps I've been about any Saban team not winning a title. That team was great and should have been one of the greatest teams of all time. So close to doing it and it slipped away.

Another game we had control of before Scarborough’s injury. On any number of drives in q4, one 3rd down conversion would have won the game. The three and outs wore us out on defense and allowed a very good qb to nip us.Also don’t forget we had two pick play no calls for TD on us.

2018 loss to Clemson - Probably the one where I truly wasn't sure about things moving forward. It looked like we had lost something as a program in terms of toughness and the standard and we lost a ton of guys on defense.

That Clemson team kicked our arse straight up. We had no answer In The red zone on offense despite moving the ball well.

2021 loss to Georgia

We literally almost won that game with duct tape and chewing gum holding both units together. Without Williams injury, we seemed to be heading for a comfortable win

We also had the ball at midfield on like 3 straight possessions after our DL mauled them inside their 10 on 3 straight possessions.

And if we win that game, we definitely beat Oregon.

It hurts more when you lose and just needed one big defensive stop late or 1 TD to seal it. It's almost easier to stomach if we just got manhandled like in 2018...then you just throw your hands up because no "what ifs" happening would have changed the outcome. You burn the tape and move on so to speak.

Last night when we were driving to go up 2 scores, I thought if we did that we were going to win the game. I think that was the blocked FG series. That's when we could have taken control of the game with a TD. Ugh.

Man that was a long and brutal drive home from Tampa. The least talked about play of that game is Hunter Renfrow running down Ryan Anderson after the strip sack and then Bama has to settle for the field goal. An all time great play in a title game in my opinion and is hardly ever mentioned.

2021 loss to Georgia - We had chances to win the game, but we were fighting an uphill battle once JaMo went down and we just couldn't capitalize. Probably the best I feel about the program moving forward short-term of any of these losses. Great experience returning, great young talented depth returning, perhaps the best offensive and best defensive player in America returning, great leaders returning, elite transfers coming in. First time I feel like I've pretty immediately been able to turn the page and look towards the next year with excitement.

Bama is going to be fine. Interested to see who the new OC is next year. I was really high on BOB but he shite the bed a good bit this year.

Not hurt or devastated by this loss. This team fought the whole year and bounced back at literally everything thrown their way. Jamo going down was tough, to see Khyree Jackson trying to see inside the medical tent just shows how much these guys love each other.

Now to next season, a whole offseason to dwell on a championship game loss. This team will be highly motivated. Will Anderson and Dallas Turner will be the best outside linebacker combo we have ever seen, those two will be absolute hell on wheels. I think we lose at least one ilb and I think Lawson will be ready to step up. Kool Aid, Ricks, and Jackson will give us 3 corners I have trust in, I think one of them will move to star and Branch will be a full time safety. We have plenty of options to work with in the secondary and I’m excited.

Offensively, Bryce and co should be fine. I’m very intrigued by Hall, you can see the talent and he some things to clean up but the upside is definitely there.

In no way am I happy but this is probably the easiest one of them for me. When you look at the talent lost from last year plus the injuries, and I don't mean to take anything away from UGA, but this team overachieved. 2018 was probably the hardest one for me just because of the manner in how it happened.

As for 2016, I hate to say "Bama beat itself" but this is the only instance I will ever use it.
