Hey anyone heard an update on Lester Cotton? I noticed a few days ago he wasn't at practice and haven't seen anything since? Anyone have an update?

from 247 sports

quote:

Freshman offensive lineman Lester Cotton was back out on the practice field and participating in individual drills.

also interesting...

quote:

Toward the end of the second viewing period, the defense lined up in its nickel package. The cornerbacks were Cyrus Jonesand freshman Minkah Fitzpatrick, the safeties were Eddie Jackson and Geno Smith, the Star was Maurice Smith and the two inside linebackers were Reggie Ragland and Reuben Foster.

Just saw this too from al.com

quote:

— Freshman offensive lineman Lester Cotton was back participating after missing three practice sessions as well as the scrimmage.

People on 247 are saying that Minkah is starting. Some believe that it has to do with TB and Hump's injuries as much as it has to do with his instincts to ball out

Anyone heard WHY he (Lester Cotton) has missed 3 days of practice and the scrimmage?

If Minkah is as good as the hype implies (though I'm sure he'd still take Freshman bumps) we have two potential shutdown CBs. Hope TB finds the field though. Ronnie Harrison is bound to play deep in Dime if he doesn't end up starting at FS. I'm not really sure, but I GUESS between Geno and Eddie that Geno would be the current FS, so that'd put Jackson at SS. Go Dime and play TB at Money (if he has learned the role).

Lot of options. Hope TB gets good PT this year. If Cyrus/Minkah are the starters, I'd pull Cyrus after the first quarter of the Middle Tennessee and ULM games. Let TB get some work, then pull Minkah after the first half and let Hump get some work. Something like that anyway. I don't know, I'm just rambling at this point.

All I can say is hopefully we can get close to the 2011 defense by mid-season. If we are undefeated late and are in another game of the century, Kiffin better be aggressive and win it the first time

As much as I loved Maze and Hanks (keep in mind White and Norwood will still young and inexperienced), I'd say we have some potential NFL WRs that will get PT, whereas that 2011 team didn't.

If Julio had stayed for 2011...

The WR corps has a lot more star power, I mean there are 4 5*s if you include O.J. I just hope the offense, no matter who the qb is, can click early and often. If that happens and the defense starts humming, the fear of Bama will slowly creep back into the SEC

Was Stewart or Black a five star? I know Ridley was the #1 WR in his class, as was Foster. Then OJ was the top TE in his, and maybe ever.

ETA: Well, going by the composite Foster was the #2 WR in his class, but still.

Whoever it is, there are going to be some lumps taken, at least early on in the season. That is just how it goes with a first year starter in the SEC. If our running game is dominant, it wont matter nearly as much obviously. Let's hope that the running game is legit.

I hope I am wrong, but I am just saying.

Well damn, can you just go ahead and release the whole starting lineup since you know it already?

Long term it will, but I believe Saban is of the coaching belief no starter loses his job because of injury.

Now if Fitzpatrick jumps a healthy Brown like Brown does hurdles, that's another story...

if Brown and Hump lose anymore days and reps then they may not have enough time to get back into "game" condition. A shoulder with Brown is not something easy to recover from depending on the nature. I had shoulder surgery and the PT was murder.

Barnett has to be loving life right now. He is the first true freshman QB to actually have a shot at starting at Alabama in a long time.
