Here's an article on Thompson from the AU247

quote:

AUBURN - Auburn linebackers coach Lance Thompson said Friday he's still in frequent contact with several of his former colleagues at Alabama. Offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin. Defensive coordinator Kirby Smart. Offensive line coach Mario Cristobal. Tight ends/special teams coach Bobby Williams. But one name was conspicuously missing: Head coach Nick Saban. Since joining Auburn and switching sides in the Iron Bowl rivalry Jan. 14, Thompson said he and Saban haven't spoken.

"Since I told him I was leaving? None. Me and Nick don't have anything to talk about right now," Thompson said. "But I don't got any hard feelings towards coach. He does a tremendous job. Looking forward to playing against him."

Saban addressed Thompson's departure in January while in Fairhope, Ala., visiting his former players preparing to take part in the Senior Bowl later that week.

"We've had several opportunities and given Lance several opportunities through the years and this same circumstance has occurred several times before and I can't really tell you why coaches do what they do," Saban told AL.com. "I think the best thing you can do is ask him, not me. We'll do the best we can to find the best replacement for him. The guy did a good job when he was with us and we wish him well. We've always wished him well and we'll continue to have the best program we can have for our players and get the best coaches and teachers for our players."

Though it's still more than three months away, Thompson said he can't wait to face the Crimson Tide.

"It's going to be awesome," he said. "Greatest rivalry in college football, you know? ... I'm a blessed guy."

This is from a poster on BOL. TIFWIW:

Mods may delete and probably should. But since someone else in this thread already touched on it I'll add to it.

Thompson wouldn't keep it in his pants with a recruits Mom last year. Both were single and could do what they wanted but the recruits Dad, although divorced, didn't like it one bit. Went to Saban and complained. Saban told Thompson that's not how you act at Bama and look for another job.

Honestly we upgraded at recruiting with Lupoi. Wash as a position coach. Water under the bridge. Good luck to Thompson. He's a great coach.

Alabama OLB Ryan Anderson on Tosh Lupoi (@CoachLup): This spring and this camp I’ve learned more about OLB than I have since I’ve been here.

I think it is obvious to all of us, Lupoi is gonna do wonders with the OLBs.

We do well enough as it is in recruiting. If Lupoi and Tucker are superior position coaches, then I am more than happy with the turnover.

Coker's release time scares me. There's a lot of potential for him to leave his safety valve out to dry in front of a beeline defender.

He's going to either make everyone who watches ESPN fear us or get excited because you know he won't shut up about QB play
