SMU win is still the cleanest option but with everything Ward said tonight he would be back stepping every data point he laid out on Bama/Miami to keep SMU in over Bama if they lose

That’s because if a team plays a game and the result requires reevaluation of the seeding, they will step through a comparative analysis for that team against each team in the mix. Alabama is not jumping another team that also didn’t play but Alabama may end up above a team who did play and their resume got worse.

It makes no sense to reward a 1-bid caliber league because their top two teams played each other.

Given where we are now and what Ward said, I find it really hard to see a scenario where we aren’t in regardless of how this Sunday plays out

SMU is #8. I think they probably do drop below Alabama with a loss, but I'm not that confident in that and no one should be

For sure. SMU needs to win or our chances are very slim. If Clemson wins in an obvious blowout, then that's the scenario of SMU potentially dropping below us that the committee was referencing.

Some people believe if UNLV beats Boise St then Boise is knocked out. UNLV won earlier this year by a 29-24 score.

There is only one spot left for Alabama to get in if Georgia is in with a loss and I think they are. The winner of Boise State and UNLV is automatically in. If Boise State losses I think we get in ahead of them. If SMU loses it is between them and us. The committee will want to put in two ACC teams if possible and a tight game could tip SMU's way, but I think we will go in ahead of them. Of course if SMU and Boise State both win we are in. The book makers think we are in and all the money is going on Alabama. If I had to bet I would bet against Alabama getting in at plus 255.

No they don't. At all. They want Bama at Notre Dame or Bama at Penn State because 10 million more people are watching those games and nobody is watching SMU get dog walked by the first team with a pulse they play.

It's amazing how many people (including all those people over the sec rant and MSB and r/cfb) don't understand or are ignorant that the main driver of all of this from the start has been ratings (ie money). This sport has never been about fairness

They just trade places. A spot for a spot. Boise would be out.

Is the ASU v ISU CG the same type of swap game as BSU v UNLV?

ETA...would ISU and/or UNLV jump to the ASU and BSU current rankings or would they fall in behind Bama?

ASU is fighting for the 12 spot. But in your scenario I think the higher ranked goes to 4.

Basically all those conference championships are fighting for 1 spot minus maybe SMU like has been discussed.

Shame on you, picking on "Little Ol' Clemson" that-a-way.
