To compare an acl tear to what Jaylon smith had is kinda ridiculous. The dude had nerve damage and his recovery is pretty miraculous. Dylan will be fine and better than ever. It just stinks that we may have seen the last of him at bama. After an injury like this I imagine he leans toward leaning. But that’s pure speculation and who knows how he and his family may treat it.

He leaves this year at best 2nd rd but probably 3rd or 4th. Come back healthy and have a great year next fall and he is a 1st rd pick.

If Mack has his ear.. I expect him to leave. Mack posted on his page that this is the exact reason he did leave. Take the money and run, stay healthy and make more. The kids now days want instant gratification. I would be very shocked if he came back

I think it will be interesting to watch. Given Dylan's dad has experience playing football and I think he's an attorney now. He may have a much different family situation than Mack. It sounded like Mack had family pressure to leave.

Apparently some of the staff know it. But is what it is.

SC has issues, everyone knows it. The coaches (some of them) are pissed. It’s really simple. Anyone who thinks it BS that’s their opinion.

Our 4th quarter program has turned into Out for 4 quarters program

It happens with every team, someone is so tenured that they eventually become the villain.
Yoxall at Auburn went from beloved and championed to scapegoat.
Bama overpaid for personality, not for an elite S&C coach.

My issue is specifically with “Bama players not impressing” and “medical jackets are always the thickest” comment. If that was truly the case our players wouldn’t get drafted (particularly the first round) or be performing at a high level in the league.

Is it that or is it a situation where our recruiting is overcoming our SC?

Talent/genetics obviously has a huge role but we’ve had the same SC for 12 years now and not once have I ever heard a former player or coach raise concerns about it (the very opposite actually).
Just to be clear, I’m not saying that we shouldn’t make changes to the SC. I just that believe that there are other factors that could be at fault (how we practice, medical staff, etc).

Can someone help me out here because I don't understand how ligament issues can be blamed on SC. I'm sure if there were a physical way to improve ligaments we'd be all over it, but it's been my understanding that you can't.

Theoretically, a player could get too big/strong without proper flexibility, or get too big/strong for his body type, or simply too big for his joints to withstand.
However, I'm not one who's blaming Cochran for these injuries. I think it's just plain ole bad luck.
Most ligament injuries are non-contact injuries where the ligament was asked, through player movement, to withstand forces it could not withstand. A smaller percentage of ligament injuries are from blunt force trauma, or from a combination of movement/trauma.
We have to understand that any sport that utilizes cleats and sudden change of direction with large muscular athletes is going to result in a certain percentage of ligament failures. The cleat prevents the foot from sliding, thereby eliminating a frequent easer of forces. If they played in sneakers, more knees would likely survive - although playing in sneakers would open up a completely new can of worms.

If we really wanted to start looking for legitimate scientific reasons for ligament failures and the like, a good place to start would be the diet of these athletes when they were babies/children/teenagers.
The quality of the average American's diet has decreased dramatically in the last several decades.

S&C as the culprit sounds like BS.
