Not sure you saw Nebraska beat Bama in the 1971 NC game in the Orange Bowl. That was an arse whipping. Whoa, Rich Glover just made another tackle.

Riley seems like a good back on a team that actually moves body. He’s got decent burst but he wasn’t great at sorting through garbage blocking last year which is why Daniel Hill running behind duo blocking was probably the best play we had.

I could definitely see Riley being the best back in the passing game. He has shown good hands. If his pass blocking improved, he might earn a lot of PT.

Funny enough, Najee Harris. He’s probably the best pass catching back of the Saban era and maybe my lifetime.

Riley has good vision. I think he and Crowell end up having nice roles in the offense. Hill looks the part, but i just dont see the production being there.

ALABAMA OFFENSIVE LINE “STILL A WAYS OFF” FROM KNOWING BEST FIVE
Last season, Alabama featured several offensive line combinations despite having veteran players at all five offensive line positions.
That's (hopefully) not the case this year, as second-year offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb blatantly put it on Thursday morning following Alabama's second practice of fall camp.
"Best five, best five, no," Grubb said on Thursday. "We always - there's injuries - guys gotta move in and out, things like that, but certainly wanna get the gel right, right away. "
It may take some time for the "best five" to gel, however, as Alabama only has three spots on the offensive line locked down: Jackson Lloyd at left tackle, Racin Delgatty at center, and Michael Carroll at right guard. Beyond that, three players are competing for the left guard position: William Sanders, Mal Waldrep Jr., and Ethan Fields, while two players are competing for the right tackle position: Nick Brooks and Jayvin James.
"I think we're a little ways off yet, if I'm being honest," Grubb said when asked if he knew who the best five offensive linemen were. "I think we got some time here. We got a lot of banked reps. So we've seen all these guys, with the exception of Will [Sanders]; most of these guys have been out there quite a bit. So I don't think, obviously, he's gonna take all of camp. But you'd love that to sync up with your quarterback decision, so that you can get some unity going in the game."
A key piece to Alabama's offensive line this season will be new offensive line coach Adrian Klemm, who has already caught the attention of Grubb on the practice field.

He was the lead back at the end of last year. If Riley is top of the group right now, it means either Riley has done something impressive or Hill has fricked something up, imo.

True. Kenyon Drake would be the only other i can think of that would have an argument.
Riley is unlike either of those guys. But he does seem like he has good hands and some route running skill.

The thing about Najee that separates him is that he was not really a screen pass guy. He was fantastic at high pointing a lob down the sideline off a wheel route, he lined up some outside and caught hooks and slants, and he was adept at finding the space in middle of field on circle and Texas routes.

Najee was a good pass catching back but I also would like to include Jahmyr Gibbs in that too. Also people forget but Derrick Henry was also good at catching the ball too

Go listen to Grubb interview yesterday. He pretty much said Hill is RB1 and Riley and other guys will see playing time.

Hill has been putting in work this off-season. He looks slimmed up and a little quicker.
EJ moves really well though. I dont see how they will keep him off the field.

I know there weren't many holes last season, but itd be nice to just see a RB hit a hole and break some 10- 15 yard runs this season consistently and I just done envision Hill being that back.
He seems like a perfect complimentary back to a star guy.
