I am not claiming to know more about basketball than Nate Oats, I know he has probably forgotten more basketball than I know.. I am his biggest cheerleader and have agreed with almost every decision he has made since arriving in Tuscaloosa.. There is one decision I can't stand behind and that is his love and playing time he gives to Jahvon Quinerly.. I don't understand what the coaches and ESPN commentators see in this guy. I mean if you are looking for a player with a bad attitude, who is a cancer to a team and a turnover machine Jahvon Quinerly is your guy.. I seriously want to know what coach Oats sees in this guy, and why he keeps getting so much playing time??

In fairness, I think we’ve all had moments of frustration with JQ this year.. but in the last few games he’s been the man

Exactly. He had enough boneheaded turnovers and plays in games where it was more than fair to criticize, but he’s made up for them in the last few games.

I really think some people on this board forgot JQ came back early from a major injury.

He absolutely was fair game for being criticized. But I've heard a lot of people who have barely watched any games overreact to his play. And as someone else already said, the dude came back very early from a major ACL injury. And his game was always about his first step and beating guys off the dribble. It looks like he's finally getting back to 100%. He still going to have a couple hot dog moments that make us cuss. But the dude is still a fricking baller who can take over games.

Him playing well can be the difference between losing in the sweet 16 and getting to the final four or better. But a lot of people who really haven't seen this team played much, or really understand basketball to begin with, can't quite understand that concept. There's a reason nobody has gone undefeated and want a title since the mid-70s. Because great players have bad nights and shitty players have great nights.

This isn't football, where the best team in the country will always win against a average mid major. Basketball gets weird sometimes.

First off , one of the best games I have ever been to at Coleman . Would have been electric the whole game if we didn’t get down 17 . Secondly , this team is not where they are without JQ. Not just last night obviously , but the whole year. The guy can get to the rim just about whenever he wants, has that northeastern toughness to him and is not scared to put the team on his back when needed. Happy for him with all he has been through … loves Bama too!

I just wish they would start Q. We need to get ahead from the beginning. Q has a very quick first step, as long as he doesnt start pounding the ball between his legs before he takes off. And he is our best passer.

Same doofus posted this on the rant a few days ago

I never said I agreed with Oats decision.. I would of suspended all of the players who had anything to do with the situation until the investigation was complete and then come to a decision.. I don't care if the whole team was involved I would of suspended every last one of them. I don't care how good the athlete is, no one is above the law and human life is so much more important than sports..

Where does bad attitude and cancer to the team come from?
a couple of bad games doesnt mean he has a bad attitude or is a cancer to the team. Oats was sending another player to sub for Q a few games ago, and that player told Oats, dont take Javon out, he is getting everyone open shots. He is making our offense work. Doesnt sound like a cancer to me.
