some second tier Div 1, thats desperate, yeah probably......
That is probably where he should have started instead of jumping from college OC to NFL HC.

I see a few more years with him. I see Smart leaving before him. Kiffin loves being an OC I think more than being a HC. And is has to be great as an OC to have a defense like we have at UA. And as an OC he probably makes more than the majority of HC out there or close to it without all the hassle. And unless he makes Saban mad his job will be there.

ETA: Does anyone think he will stay on the sidelines next year? I actually like him there to be able to calm down the QB, but I understand coordinators wanting to be in the skybox.

Absolutely. He certainly sees what everyone else sees. There's no comparison between what he is able to do on the sideline compared to the box. And I think he loves being out there on the field, front and center, in front of the team. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Plus, he can't do this in the box.

I also think that Kirby and Kiffin have a genuine mutual respect and affection for each other. It was cool after the Tennessee game to see Smart yell at Kiffin and enjoy them moment together.

Definetely....hell, that is what Saban did when his first HC job was at Toledo. Saban had interesting stories to tell about hopw he fricked up plenty of times but its easy to learn and overcome if you are at a place like Toledo or michigan State. Frick up with Al Davis? well......its just not a place where you learn on the job.

Smart won't go anywhere. He's on the Bud Foster track.

He honestly thinks if he sticks around long enough he will inherit the head coaching job. Won't happen.

Kiffin will be at UA for another two years and then take off back to the West Coast somewhere or back to the pros as an OC.

I'm thinking Kiffin will get an offer this year and will consider it. I hope he doesn't go because I think he needs another year to not only rehab his image, but get some seasoning. He proved that if you are an assistant and get thrown into the deep end too early, you'll get eaten alive. In my biased opinion, he should stay one more year.
