Freddie Roach

Who is the fourth DL coach in four years. The constant change hasn’t helped with development either.

Maybe he can turn it around, but it just seems like he's not what we're looking for at NG. He gets moved and controlled too easily. I expected him to be a very strong, stout, Nose Tackle, but he hasn't come close to living up to it so far.

I think a lot of this goes back to who our DC is.. he isn’t fired up or excited on the sidelines. He’s a bum plain and simple. We need to promote Charlie Strong and watch these guys grow into monsters

We need Bo Davis back.

We were great at the beginning of Sabans tenure when he was here. He left and then we fell off on DL. He came back and we were great again...he left and we fell off again

I’ll never understand this fascination by some fans with Bo Davis. He’s never coming back. End of story.

We've had a lot of good D-line coaches. Recently, we let Dunbar go and he's been over at Pittsburg blowing up running backs and QBs alike. Who really knows why all these coaches come and go, but being good at your job isn't all of it by a longshot.

Dunbar was probably the best DL coach Alabama has had under Saban. He was just not a recruiter. At all. Which is why he’s back in the NFL.

Funny enough, one of the reasons Pete Golding is at Alabama is because of Bo Davis. They worked together at UTSA. And Davis recommended him to Saban.

And every time we don't stop the running game or get to the QB or find ourselves out of position or don't show that championship DNA in crunch time, just how many points and games is that worth?

Coaching is everything. Even if you have some of the best players around.

I agree. But you have to find that balance with teaching and recruiting. I’ll admit that Bo Davis grew into that during his second stint at Alabama. But he won’t work under Saban again. Not after his NCAA issues. But it seems his opinion is still valued by Saban.

I am hopeful that Roach can get there. The lack of a spring practice was pretty unfortunate for a new position coach. Especially one that is the fourth in four seasons for the DL.

But but but Dunbar lost Malik Langham(who has since transferred to Vandy) to Florida!

Sold a bill of goods with a lazy Coach Kool to replace him. "Upgrade"

It's amazing. I thought CK was going to make the Bama DL a terror. What happened?

We could help our front 7 a LOT by quit running these damn twists and stunts combined with A gap blitzes all the time and just let them rush the QB. A corner blitz might be a nice surprise every once in a while too. But our pass rush is getting stoned by these complex twists we're trying to run combined with the inside blitzes. All that happens is the OL all block down, the middle gets clogged and our guys get caught up in a traffic jam between the guards and center, the tackles ride the ends around and out of the play and it's the same 3rd and Golding results. That's how 5 block 5 or 6 with no problem. It's maddening.

Baremore as a freshman had difficulty sticking to the mush rush script last season and often ended up too many times at the QB. He's apparently catching on.

Stunts can be effective if the technique and timing are in sync but it looks like we are just drawing up stunts without perfecting the nuances of the scheme . And as far as our LB A gap blitzes .... don’t even get me started on how bad it looks and is easily picked up every time we run it

Our poor inside linebackers Golding is recruiting a bunch of the guys in this class, so I’m not sure what we are going to do
