Do Green Bay fans own Packers stock?

Yeah but once they become employees, you can do contracts,
What's that first Wednesday in February always been called? SIGNING day. When they accept a scholarship offer, they are signing an agreement. The NCAA could make it a 3 year binding deal...school guarantees you three years of college, you can't go anywhere else unless you're released. And that in no way inhibits you from making a billion dollars off NIL. Make all you cab get. But no more free agency every year.

Actually, some sports teams are publicly owned companies. For some years, you could buy stock in the Boston Celtics.

No, it wasn't a gun to the head. Yes, it was very off-putting.
Did I ever say it couldn't be received as off-putting?
Does it being off-putting change the reality of the situation?
No one is forcing anyone to give. However as you stated, we should embrace that not participating in this scrappy situation damns the team. So embrace that and don't complain about that part as well.

Ownership structure
The Packers are the only publicly owned team in the NFL, with over 538,000 shareholders owning more than 5.2 million shares. The Packers have been a non-profit corporation since 1923.
Stock ownership
Shares are primarily for voting rights and team support, and don't offer financial gain or market value. Shareholders can't sell or cash in their shares, and can only transfer them to family members. If a fan wants to return shares, they can only sell them back to the team at a reduced price.
Stock sales
The Packers have held six stock sales to raise money for renovations and keep the team financially stable. The original shares sold for $5 each in 1923, and in 2021 they sold for $300 each.
Fan involvement
Fans meet annually at Lambeau Field to hear updates about the team and discuss its future. All profits are invested back into the organization, often
toward stadium updates.
Benefits of fan ownership
The Packers' ownership model builds community spirit, creates a loyal fan base, and helps the team focus on long-term success.

Absolutely. This is the same thing with donating to colleges on campus
I'm sorry...when you donate to the University of Alabama, do they turn around and use your funds to cut a check to Auburn? You donate to put money in a players pocket, and next year he's playing for your rival and trying to beat you...still driving that car you helped pay for.
This is absolutely nothing like donating to the university. You donate to the university and your money never leaves.

Maybe compare the salary of the North Dakota players to the Alabama players? You could tell which team wanted it the most, but they still lost.
Would you be happy with 7-5 for a couple of years until they finally get a fix on college football?
Wouldn't bother me. Watching the behavior of these pricks is a downer.

Put a lotto on the ballot to fund Alabama and AU NIL collectives and I am pretty sure that passes.
There's a lottery in Tennessee. I call it a state tax on stupid people. Or poor people. People in Brentwood TN aren't the ones buying lottery tickets. Spend 30 minutes in a convenience store in TN and see who the people are who come in and buy lottery tickets. Mostly low income people whose kids will never see the lottery scholarship.

No. Blowing something up would actually be a proactive action. The vast majority of Alabama fans simply ignoring Greg Byrne isn't blowing anything up.

I'm not fighting for shite, nor will I. I'm sitting at a resort in Turks and Caicos as I type this. I'm a Bama grad and was a season ticket holder for years. But if as a result of this new landscape Bama ends up being a perennial 6-6 team, you know what I'm gonna do? I'm still gonna take amazing vacations, play golf, go to concerts, and have a fun life for what's left of it. My happiness and joy for life is in no way dictated by whether or not Alabama wins another football game. I'll remember the glory years, and I'm good with that.

The entire thread is about whether it was off-putting. It's literally in the title!

You keep talking about the reality of the situation and then saying things like this. A bunch of middle or lower class fans picking $50-100 extra a month to Yea Alabama for a semi-pro professional player's salary vs $50 or $100 to their kids college fund or their church or their savings account is an absurd thing to ask and no, I don't even entertain it as a legitimate request.
So yea, if that means we get beat out in bidding wars then so be it. I won't be complaining about it.

And let's be honest, what he's really asking them to do isn't the same as soliciting regular donations, ticket and merch sales, etc. where you know exactly what your money is going towards or getting for you. He's essentially asking people to gamble with this money because sometimes the money you send to Yea Alabama will end up in the hands of a kid like Bryce and sometimes it will end up the hands of a dude who cuts and runs with it after one season where he did nothing like Caleb Odom.

Exactly. No thanks. I'll wait until the kids have contracts and salaries and opt out penalties and the like.
Alex Anthopolous doesn't send me emails during the season asking me to tack on an additional $250 to my season ticket payments for trade deadline upgrades (though if he did I might do it).

Brotha, we heading towards Private Equity in CFB. Jeff Bezos is looking for a Football Team. I say we "sell out" to Bezos and melt the CFB world.
