re: Derailment of Alabama Rant

Well, I didn't see every thread, so I'll yield. I was just shocked to follow this one from the start (after just catching most of this fiasco in bits and pieces) and see that sequence that ended with a re-post of the offending predictions followed by a banning.

From a mostly-lurker who has appreciated Boz for a long time and shaken off the cringy moments that are natural to this sort of thing, this just looked like a perfect crapstorm to be handled with a bit more humility. And the last chapter to do with Tua's ostensibly bad grades on hip damage made the whole affair feel sleezy and stalky. Just one guy's opinion that nobody asked for, but I think I'll fade out of the Insider Listening business after this.

Also, there are lots of losers, haters, and morons on this board. Of course they'd side with their kin. Furthermore, those are the kinds of people with multiple alters who 'vote' more than once.

If you even barely paid attention this season, you’d know that he didn’t get banned for “questioning and disagreeing.” He more or less stalked Boz’s posts and shite on everything he said, trying to change all discussion from Alabama football to how wrong Boz was. Fair enough, it’s a message board, but he can’t just make his point and let people decide what they think.

Right or wrong, I like reading Boz’s posts, and I don’t need some a-hole trying to decide for me what I should or shouldn’t believe. Even if he’s just passing along info from BOL, that’s fine by me too because I don’t have a subscription there. I’m glad that guy is gone and I hope he’s never unbanned. I don’t have a ton of time to browse this board and the last thing I want is to have to wade through a bunch of middle school bullshite drama. THAT will make people leave this board, not supposedly real or fake insiders.

Just a personal view on the like/dislike button. I could see why a lot of folks on different forums got rid of the unlike side of it. It promotes the mob mentality it seems. For those, a little shy to express themselves and get involved in the first place it might chase away someone already feeling like their thoughts might not be as important. And lastly, for me, it doesn't encourage "rebuttal." Which I would think is what the forum is doing here.

Mods, why not just do away with the "unlike" button? Most of the fans here are heavily invested in Alabama to start with, why not encourage more dialog and less judging.

The "dislike" button isn't an honest rebuttal. And if you're trying to encourage people to feel free to get in the conversation, a great start is to stop rating their comments.

That's a shame. It seems the SEC Rant does everything humanly possible to make sure everyone feels equally insulted. Put those typing piranhas in an enclosed room for a little face to face and see how fast the stupidity gets cleaned up. And not because of some macho dude waiting to turn your lights out. It's just plain hard to speak that harsh and stupid when you're looking another person in the eyes.
