Defense gets the goose egg

I know, I know wku isn’t a top 25 team and maybe not even top 50, but they usually have a pretty good offense especially in the passing game.
The Def quietly kept them at about 103yds passing and I believe about 45yds rushing. Thats not to damn shabby against wku. I honestly thought Bama would give up around the 250-300 total yd range.
This defense seems more energetic more aggressive more of a nasty attitude and everyone seem to be on the same page and flying to the ball.
JC11 is playing up to his potential in this scheme, he’s was a force and a nightmare to deal with Saturday. DL0 also was all over the place and JJ15 has got a tremendous burst to run plays down sideline to sideline.
More I could say but in a nutshell I was impressed how they played overall. It was a good start for the younger guys to build on.

They missed a gimme FG, but I'll take it

I loved the way the defense swarmed to the ball, and they are clearly playing faster than the last few seasons.
What I'm looking for next is how well they handle misdirection plays. If they can keep playing that fast while maintaining gap discipline--they sky's the limit.

No doubt about it. There was a number of guys that explicitly stood out to me with how they were flying around all over the field. Jihaad Campbell, Qua Russaw, Jefferson, Malachi Moore, Red Morgan, even some of the big boys up front.
I want to see how they hold up against a physical run game (I.e. UGA) and offenses that have a good-to-elite OL. The interior DL guys batted a handful of passes down, which I loved to see, but I’d like to see them disrupt the pocket/get after the QB a little more than they did vs. WKU.

This WKU offense would have dropped 17 points on Golding...

Jihaad Campbell
Wouldn't trade him for any other LB in the country

This defense swarms to the ball like many of the great Bama defenses in the past. I am super excited for this season. Will keep praying that all the players stay healthy.

The defense is better than the offense. They could develop into a very good defense.
