Are many of the ones calling for firings, benching, calling our players/coaches the worst names possible, etc. be the “fans” who grew up with the impression that Bama is virtually unbeatable? They weren’t around to actually take a game like last night as a freakin’ treasure (of hard work) rather than just a norm.
If they only could have witnessed the Shula years when we would get 1st and goal at the three against a directional school, and could not get a touchdown. I distinctly remember those days.
I remember our guys getting super excited about their game plan against some big team, like LSU. We would play a great three quarters only to lose, yet another close one, in the fourth quarter.
They have never seen Dubose’s last year.
In a way, NIL makes things interesting again. There was a time when championships weren’t largely a foregone conclusion before the season even started. There was a time when even a team like BYU won a National Championship.

Fans overreact but the administration has never wavered on coach DeBoer. He will get 4 years minimum, probably longer now that he has a playoff win.
I’m I lost here or was the OP just saying his buyout (if he leaves) should be increased so teams can’t come in all Willy Nilly and try to poach our coach for a measly $4M buyout?
I don’t see much wrong with the OP.

He also said he would make the contact more performance based.
He is wishful thinking.. coaches have all the leverage

I think the following can all be true:
1. DeBoer is a good coach in certain settings, such as Washington in the Pac12
2. He was the best available option given the timing of Saban’s retirement
3. He can probably consistently win 8-10 games at head coach here every year.
4. He is not a great cultural fit for the University of Alabama and his contract is lopsided.
