Sherrell was 1-9 in 10 minutes, fricking let it fly. 1-5 from 3.
In his defense, he also managed to grab 7 rebounds (5 offensive) in 10 minutes

If we could get more of, “ 2nd half,” Sears, we’d be almost impossible to beat. This team loses its rhythm and it seems it’s difficult to get it back. A couple of players look great one game and look pedestrian the next. I still don’t understand how we don’t have one of the best defensive teams in the country. No one has stood out as, “ the it”, player from one game to the next.

Defense is good. The last 2 games it has been really good….save for the Creighton white kid turning into Reggie Miller with 4 minutes left.
We gotta start making shots. If we start making shots nobody will touch us. And has anybody else notice we are turning down a lot of good looks from 3 to drive the ball?

Us going 6-30 from is putrid

Well..I could somewhat excuse it if it hadn’t become a trend. We weren’t able to shoot in our gym because of Graduation and hadn’t played at home for over a month. It was a perfect storm for a bad shooting night

Thankful this team doesn’t have to outscore you to win - definitely don’t need to score 90-100 every night. We have some guys who can absolutely bring it on D.

Don't we practice in the practice facility? Seems like this would hamper your home court shooting.

Why is the score not showing in the thread title?

I was also impressed with their little point guard. We were harassing the heck out of him and he still was giving us grief.

I honestly just wish we ran some damn Half court sets with the emphasis on getting a shooter open

Going back and looking at box score this morning, it's really difficult to understand how this was a close game.
Total Rebounds:
Bama 46 , Creighton 32
Offensive Rebs:
Bama 17, Creighton 5
Alabama had fewer turnovers and made more free throws. Creighton had 2 more made 3 pointers than us.
Generally winning the rebounding margin that decisively, winning turnover battle and making more free throws is a recipe for a comfortable win.

Because we shot 30 from Beyond the arch and l my made 6. Watching us play helps me understand why NBA viewership is declining rapidly, it's just it as fun to watch that style of basketball and it can be very inefficient and ineffective in the college game

The stop watching and shut the frick up

Yeah, it was a dominant performance. They couldn't keep us off the boards, we blew by defenders and got in the paint at will, we did a much better job containing the crafty veteran PG + good big man that gave us trouble at Purdue. We even created a few turnovers that resulted in easy baskets.
However, after the first couple of minutes the team (other than Sears down the stretch) went something like 0-19, I believe, from behind the arc.
It's a huge brightside that we can beat good teams shooting that badly.
But we're certainly going to have to improve -- perhaps also finding the spacing that gets the best shooters a little higher % of the shots taken even if that's not really the design of the offense. I believe we're currently ranked around #270 in 3pt shooting for the season.
We don't need to be great to win a lot of games, but we'll definitely need to be average to above to consistently beat the top of the SEC.

Too many of the 3s we're taking are from Sherrell, Nelson, Stevenson, and Reid right now. Most teams are going to be happy to let that happen.

I don't know. I think that's a bit of a knee jerk. Alabama is 54-18 in regular season conference play the last 4 years and that doesn't include the 2 Sec Tournament Titles.
There is really no other team close in the past 4 years in the SEC.

Yes, you can definitely see we are being goaded a little bit. Think Youngblood will help with that once he gets settled in.

Its still early in the season. Those guys have the green light bc Oats thinks they can make them at a decent clip. Later on the light will be a little more yellow. These guys are all still learning to play together.
Im more concerned when guys like Sears and Holloway arent making them. But we dont need Sherrell, Jarin, Grant, Mo, or Reid taking more than 3 a game, unless they hit the first 2.

We run concepts not plays. And then Oats gives his guys freedom to run the concepts out there. We have been the most electric offense in College Basketball the last 5 years. It works
