Not sure totally about that. Analysts are wholly removed from recruiting. We will see
yeah. I don't see why he wouldn't be good to go for an analyst job considering, as you note, analysts don't recruit, or at least don't actively recruit off campus.

Marrone has been officially named the OL coach

Still can't believe Saban pulled an NFL HC to be the OL coach for a college team. Absolutely amazing.

I don't watch the NFL anymore but I did read he was fired a couple of weeks ago after losing 15 games this season, so technically a former NFL coach.

and the way those buyouts work Bama has to pay him a fair wage and the NFL has to pay him the rest of his guaranteed salary. So it was 6M and Bama is paying half a Mil. Jacksonville will be paying him 5.5M for the remainder of his contract less salary increases they get while at Bama.
the OL is probably making under 1M and the OC is probably making 1.5-2M

Not sure who he will bring in as analysts but the coaching room will have plenty of knowledge and experience to draw from ... dummies don’t coach in the NFL anymore

Piece from Steelers Depot advocating for Marrone for the Pittsburgh O-Line Coaching position.
Gillispie and Marrone with these backs and O-linemen!?! Bama about to have six 1000 yard backs in a season.
quote:
Marrone broke into the NFL coaching ranks in 2002 with the New York Jets as their offensive line coach. From 2002-05 the Jets made two postseason appearances (2002, 2004) with Marrone on the staff. In 2004, the Jets produced the NFL’s third-best rushing offense (149.3 avg.) and running back Curtis Martin led the NFL with 1,697 rushing yards.
In 2006, Marrone became the offensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints. He also coached the Saints offensive line as well. In his first season with the Saints, Tackle Jammal Brown was voted to the All-Pro team and to the Pro Bowl, while guard Jahri Evans was a unanimous All-Rookie selection. The Saints also ranked fourth in the NFL in 2007 in total offense and set an NFL record for completions (440) and had franchise bests for passing first downs (222), attempts (652), touchdown passes (28) and completion percentage (67.5). In 2008, the Saints led the NFL in total offense while setting team records for points (463), total yards (6,571), net passing yards (4,977), TDS (57) and first downs (354).
After his time was up with the Saints, Marrone spent four seasons (2009-12) as the head coach of Syracuse, his alma mater. He then went back to the NFL in 2013 as the head coach of the Buffalo Bills. In 2013, the Bills offense led the AFC and finished second in the NFL in rushing (144.2 avg.), while also leading the league with a 95.5 pct. red zone efficiency mark.
From 2015 until just a few weeks ago, Marrone was with the Jaguars, first as their offensive line coach in 2016 and then as their head coach for four seasons. In 2016, the Jaguars offensive line allowed 34 sacks, 17 fewer than the previous season (51) and 37 fewer than in 2014 (71). The Jaguars finished the 2017 season with the top-ranked rushing offense (141.4 yards per game) as well.

As analyst he should convince Sumlin, Herman, Pruitt, Lovie Smith and hell let Gus pour some coffee
That analyst room would be hilarious.

I assume NFL offers have been extended to Bill and Doug and declined thus the official release by Bama.

I'm guessing they official signed a contract with Bama thus the official release although you could be right.

I absolutely hope he brings Herman in. He failed as head coach at Texas but did great at Houston and was a very good OC at Rice, Iowa State, and Ohio State.

The funny part is Tom didn't fail at Texas and somebody should throw money at him. He had 4 winning seasons, 3 top 25 finishes and won four straight bowl games all while dealing with Texas boostera. He just couldn't beat OU and was kind of a tool.
If he came I just wonder what in the pro style power spread you could add to the playbook, or if Saban would even want to.

That is what i think the key to Saban's analyst hires always key around. What do they bring to the table that will help the team improve in areas they are struggling. He doesn't just hire anyone, it seems like his hires have a niche that are really good at.

Like Butch and his unique ability to fetch dry cleaning.

ha. When I read that post I immediately thought of Butch. But that guy became a huge Bammer and apparently the players love him.

Uhhh.... No. Gus will not be there to pour coffee. Butch is gone. And that Mercedes isn't gonna wash itself.

I decided that Saban fully taken the Bama program into the next era of his dynasty at this point.
Era 1 was short - getting the recruiting machine rolling, etc.
Era 2 was winning with dominant defense, recruiting machine going full tilt.
Era 3 was transition of the team along with changes in the game plus and figuring out how to deal with the mass coaching exodus.
Era 4 is now having both the recruiting machine and the coaching rehab machine going - I feel like he has it now where we not only are able to reload on players, but he sets it up where we are ready to reload on coaches as need be. Era 4 has the potential to keep Saban going for a long time.
