Not even close to seeing meaningful snaps. He does not fit the scheme defensively whatsoever, and lacked physicality from Day 1, and that never changed.
He doesn’t have the body-type/mass to play in an Odd-Front, nor does he have the versatility to slide inside to a 4 or 4i the way Thompkins and Edrik Hill do.
His only role would be that of an “Edge”, but obviously he was never going to take snaps from Yhonzae, Zulu or even Justin Hill (future star and very physical), and he was absolutely worthless when it came to stopping the run.
CKW transitioned more and more to a 3-4 Under after the Vandy debacle in his first ever SEC game, after only using it on 8% of snaps at South Alabama and zero at Indiana.
You have to give him major kudos for taking a chance like this at a school like Alabama where he had one chance to make it big or crash and burn, and most guys would e doubled down on what got them the job in the first place (4-2-5), but he wasn’t too stubborn to fall into that trap.
Now CKW has the bodies/mass to fit a more 2-gap Odd-Front based scheme and shedded the Renaud, Collins, Keeley, and Smith tyke bodies that were all in that 270lb-290lb range that were built for a 1-gap Even Front.
Best of luck to all of them, but man is it fun watching the defense operate with all the pieces in place.

The ONLY thing I would add to this team if I had the power to do-so, would be a premier RB. CNS absolutely left the cupboard bare at RB. He always had multiple NFL caliber Backs until Roydel Williams and McClellan in 2022-2023, and then Jam and Daniel Hill….those guys clearly don’t stack up at all to the caliber of Backs CNS had from 2008-2022. I know Daniel Hill is improved, but I’m really hoping the Freshman Traeshawn Brown will be a major surprise. He reminds me a lot of a young T.J. Yeldon. Then of course getting Crowell healthy would provide another possibility. The defense and improved kicking game is good enough to win 9 games on its own imo. Keelon Russell will get them to 10 wins, and if one of the RB’s is the real deal then they can win the Conference imo.
