Well that came out of “nowhere.” I’m pretty sure he visited Texas one time. Thought for sure he was uga/au bound.

$$$$$.

I’m really curious how much money some of these guys are getting and how we compete with that. I’ve repeatedly heard that keelon had better NIL deals elsewhere

I hope we hit the portal hard and nab a couple Dlineman , a LB, maybe a DB and a stud WR like that kid from NC State

It doesn't shock me. Uga was going to lose a few guys this year because they're playing the recruiting "game" the same way we are. Not overspending on guys. I had heard about six weeks ago from some of the usual reliable people that post info that I pay attention to that there were several programs going ALL OUT to spend as wildly and freely as it takes to win right now. We're pretty much aware of who all that encompasses. However, there was also a tier that is still very competitive in NIL that had decided that the wild, free-spending isn't a sustainable model and wouldn't overpay on guys and risk locker room issues. Ironically, one of those programs (Michigan) just flipped into the aforementioned tier and decided to go hog wild not long after they were mentioned as one of the programs not willing to overspend. The other ones in the second tier (not willing to overspend on one individual) were Bama, Uga, and (ironically) Texas A&M (having decided the first tier model doesn't work after the Jimbo debacle). I found the info interesting. Bama and UGa sell recruits heavily on NILopportunities once on campus and future development/NFL opportunities.

Also didn’t make sense to that anymore because a significant number of these top recruits will transfer after a year or 2

The portal is where it’s at how because at least some of them are proven

Just insane how badly that approach failed.

A look at their '22 class...

I don't see how signing a bunch of guys who make NIL their top priority is even remotely sustainable. If they don't like much about your program other than their compensation, then they're out of there when and if someone else offers them more money. Because they don't even like you. You don't get the "I actually like my job here" discount. If someone else comes in offering them $10k more you either get extorted or let them walk.

I believe he plays his final HS game tomorrow in the Class 6A-Division I Region II championship, and then hopefully he packs his bags and heads to Tuscaloosa!

Two more weeks after this once for TX HS playoffs. Region champs make up a final four.

Realistically, it's very hard if not impossible to expect to sign a Top 5 type QB in every class. And with Keelon on board, it's gonna be tough to sign one in 2026.

Guess we need to update the graphic in my previous post. Enai White went from BENCH to PORTAL just now:

Heck, if you can lock down that Rivers' pipeline you may be set at QB for 20 more years. And women's basketball too.
