Rivals Rankings Week: Ten biggest risers in the Rivals250
quote:
30. OL Michael Carroll
Moved up: 155 spots
Every time Carroll shows up to an event he seems to be an inch or so taller. After officially measuring in at 6-foot-6, 316-pounds with 34-inch arms at the Rivals Five-Star in June, the Alabama commit certainly has the size to compete at the next level. Carroll is a fairly lean 316 pounds so it was really important to see how he held up against defensive linemen who have overwhelming strength. Carroll passed those tests with ease and now checks the strength and toughness boxes.
From an athleticism perspective, Carroll has the flexibility and quickness to play tackle or guard at the next level. His frame has the look of a tackle but he seems to be more comfortable at guard right now. Either way, there aren’t many lingering questions about Carroll’s game and now he’s one of the highest-ranked prospects in the 2025 class.

Is this good or bad news ?
I mean his final 3 is us and the MS schools. If we lose out to a school he already decommitted from or Clanga we doing something wrong.

Clanga is going to make it difficult to hang on to Cunningham, though. Ultimately, I expect him to stick, but they're certainly dedicating a large chunk of their NIL to signing him.

Clanga doesn’t have any money. Have you ever been to Starkville? Unless he wants his NiL to be paid in cow shite I think we’re safe

Man you can’t ever count out MSU or OM when it comes to Mississippi kids . It’s all some kids here know and many don’t want to leave home

They are a threat with Cunningham until (and even after, as the bizarre world of NIL would have it) until he signs. Rodney Orr has mentioned this specifically as it relates to him many times. Again, I expect Bama to ultimately sign him. But, let's not pretend like there's no threat here... regardless of whether MSU is a logical fit or not. Logic often doesn't apply in the NIL world.

When is the last time Miss St signed an elite recruit? I know there’s the whole “Mississippi kids…” cliche but that’s really all it is at this point. It’s not like Tuscaloosa is far from Ackerman.

Haven’t had many lately that are ELITE but they get their share of in state kids

The State has been down as far as elite talent lately

They've signed seven 5-stars in program history and the last was Jeffrey Simmons in 2016. They've never signed a 5-star receiver and only one 5-star running back over 20 years ago. Elite skill players don't go to State so I'd be shocked if they somehow pulled Cunningham or Dear.
