I agree. Question is is this a class Alabama should go all out with play for pay or should we wait until 25?

Need those guys on the team but it’ll be nice to see DeBoer pull some players who aren’t from Washington…that’ll take time building relationships obviously.

Not meant as a negative. Of course the portal situation makes that impossible at the moment. No other teams are open.

Hopefully Williams is the first one.

Y'all so infatuated with stars.

If a person can play, he just can play.

Josh Jacobs, Levi Wallace (Walk-On), Nick Gentry, Robert Lester, and plenty of others...FOH with that. Learn to compete.

Jabbar still has a trip to Oregon and family in Texas. Unless he cancels his trip he is a medium to long shot.

Meh does dudes might help our roster, but we probably better off using those scholly on some players with power 5 experience after the spring transfer window opens.

To be honest when it comes to recruiting, don't expect us to even try to get the big money guys. It's not the way DeBoer does it. Our GM has already said they prefer to make sure the guys already on the team are getting taken care of and go after transfers who are already proven. I get it. It's a safe way to use the money and you keep your guys longer.

Well he better hope he can coach circles around the competition because Alabama under DeBoer is going to be less talented than the top competition.

I doubt that.

And throughout his career he has been coaching circles around the competition. Not sure why he would stop now.

All I'm saying is I hear people saying we need to sign Ryan Williams but that is very clearly a bag recruitment battle. If there are guys we really need to win but can't operate on the free market to secure them then we're going to have to win big games with superior scheme and player development.

I know they said that they would rather take care of the guys in the locker room but I don't see the fruit of any of that. Seeing how many transfers we've had chasing money over the last week, they do not seem to be doing that at all actually

The greatest coach of all time retired and every school in the country had a second chance at our roster and threw more money than ever to try and break up what was built here. I don't believe that using this portal window as a reference point is reasonable. This circumstance is an anomaly. In the future I think it is a sound strategy.

How in the hell do you stop a player that can get more money elsewhere? They don't give a shite if Nick Saban is in the room with them. More Money and they are gone.

get a clue

Guy on Reddit claims Ryan Williams gave Jabbar his tour of campus today and that Jabbar and his dad had a great time. Also rumored that we threw a bag at him and he may be a surprise sooner than expected. Just a rumor so don’t shoot the messenger.

I get what you're saying.
Yes the other teams are throwing a lot of money at them. It just seems like we could keep some by offering more $ than the competition

Besides this is a message board. If we all had the same opinion and/or agreed with everyone's opinion it would be boring ya know.

Nfl money far outweighs pay for play. If DeBoer starts putting QBs in the top ten of the draft we won't have to win bidding wars for the smart ones.

Best QBs bring in best WRs etc. Production = higher draft pick. It's the great neutralizer. Gotta be elite to make it work though.

That is one strategy, but trying to outbid the whole of elite college football to retain your roster is bad business and will quickly lead to program failure.
