ELITE TALENT AT THE TOP IN ALABAMA

Bo Nix, George Pickens and Clay Webb are five-star prospects in Alabama and all can make their case to be the top prospect in the state. Entering the all-star games, Pickens is No. 1, Webb No. 2 and then Nix.

The only time the state of Alabama has produced three five-stars in recent cycles is 2016. That class was led by Ben Davis, who signed with Alabama, but has yet to play meaningful minutes. The top prospect in that class looks to be Quinnen Williams. The defensive tackle has played himself up NFL Draft boards in Tuscaloosa this fall.

We expect the 2019 trio to be different. Pickens, Nix and Webb all look to be future stars. Their talent and work ethic sets them a part. Nix is committed to Auburn and he is a Tiger legacy. Pickens is pledged to Auburn too, but the talented receiver is not as strongly committed as Nix. LSU is a school to watch here. Webb is set to commit to Alabama, Auburn, Clemson or Georgia on Monday. Most expect it to be the Crimson Tide or Bulldogs.

The state of Alabama has a strong group in 2019, but having three five-stars like this trio makes it unique. We will be surprised if they don’t make significant impacts at their schools in the coming years.

Alabama is going to sign the best class in recruiting history and won't land one in-state 5-star player.

WILL FLORIDA'S BEST FIND HIS WAY BACK TO THE TIDE?

Trey Sanders is the No. 2 prospect in the country and the IMG Academy running back leads the way in the Florida State Rankings. The five-star prospect was at one point committed to Alabama and it's very possible that he ends up back with Nick Saban.

Saners re-opened his recruitment early in 2017 after being pledged to the Crimson Tide for eight months. Alabama never went away in his recruitment. Georgia had a little momentum at one time. Florida was being talked about as the possible favorite earlier this year, but really since the summer, the chatter has been all about Alabama.

You don’t see a lot of prospects commit and re-commit to the same school, but all signs point to that happening this cycle with Sanders. He was at Georgia this weekend, Florida cannot be completely ruled out and Florida State and Texas are hanging around, but it will be a surprise if Sanders’ name is not back on that Alabama commitment list later this month.

His highlights were impressive, for sure. I think he had 16 sacks? Impressive from the DT position.

Word around the block in Norman, Oklahoma is that Marquise Brown has a broken foot and won’t play in the orange bowl. Not ground breaking cus it was expected but that’s the word I’ve heard from one of my bosses who is a subscriber on OU’s 247 board

I am not impressed with Webb. I'm not convinced he'll be able to handle larger DTs in college.

I have said for months that I would not be disappointed if Webb went elsewhere. I have never seen him as a must have just more of a nice to be added type of player but to many other top targets out there that fill more of a need.

realize Thib is rated super high but do we not already have elite speed rushers on deck?

He’s probably the best player in the country. Kid ran a 4.67 and had a 42.5” vertical at a camp this year. Guys like that are rare specimens that don’t come around in recruiting every year. He had 20 sacks his senior season.

Imagine it’s 3rd and 10 in Jordan Hare Stadium. Bo Nix whirley birds away from the rush of #4 overall Eyabi Anoma only to be staring down #10 overall Kayvon Thibodeaux coming around the other edge. He’s got top ten pick potential, you never ever turn those guys down.

I don’t have a problem with the UGA posters who confidently discuss their recruiting prowess with guys like Webb and guys they have been long favored for but when they start all the we gettin everybody Sanders, Dean, and whoever we want, that’s when delusion is setting in. Webb is theirs and that’s fine. Would love to have him, but this was slightly expected and it is not a position of need.

With Chris Allen and Terrell Lewis cleaning the play up.

One thing I like about Thibs is he is physically ready to go on Day One. Anoma was not.

Yep, you can't ever have enough pass rushers as far as I'm concerned.

I think we will see a lot of our Jack and Sam guys playing a lot more with a hand down early on next season. We are going to be very green outside of Ray and Mathis along the DL. Will be some unique looks until the redshirt and true freshmen are ready.

Got back into the office from the ATL UTD parade and noticed Webb hadn't committed yet.

Definitely thought this was a 10am EST announcement lol

ALABAMA STAYS NO. 1 AND EXTENDS LEAD

Cue the broken record: Alabama is lining up to win another team rankings recruiting title with a strong close during the early signing period and then wrapping things up on National Signing Day. This is getting old already - except for Crimson Tide fans.

Alabama already has the top-ranked class in the country led by five-star defensive tackle Antonio Alfano and 18 four-star pledges but we’re talking about coach Nick Saban’s program really loading up in the final weeks.

Five-stars Trey Sanders, Evan Neal, Ishmael Sopsher, Clay Webb, Nakobe Dean, Kayvon Thibodeaux and George Pickens are all within striking distance. Some are already considered Alabama leans. Others are on the board as well including some high-level four-star prospects like tight end Keon Zipperer, defensive backs Noa Pola-Gates, Jeffery Carter and others.

It’s been written before and it will be written again: The Crimson Tide should close with a fury.
