I just haven’t seen one mention of Gattis being promoted
Gattis has never called plays, Enos and Freeze have.
We all love Gattis, but he doesn't have the experience.

Yeah Locksley has some prime prospects in his area for 2020
Lloyd
Jarrett
Braswell
Bresee
Sherman
It'll be very hard for Locksley to land any of those kids at Maryland. He'll be competing against Bama, Ohio St, Penn St, Clemson, Georgia, etc.

If he and SDH hadn't gotten hurt in 2016 we'd be going for a 4-peat right now.

Pisses me off so much. I think SDH got hurt in the SEC championship game against Florida. My wife was wondering why I was complaining so much after a game we won by 40.
I still need an explanation from someone some where why Jackson fell to the 4th round.

If Locksley takes the Maryland job, you can bet that he'll try to take Gattis with him
Can't imagine he'd be successful in that attempt. Gattis is co-OC here. He isn't going to Maryland to be OC for an offensive-minded coach would would likely have his hands all over the offense.

In all seriousness, I wouldn't like Freeze as the OC (yet), but I'd take him as our next WR coach in a heartbeat.
The Vol-tards seem to think Freeze will be their next OC.
Hope not

Locks has already done this at Maryland as OC. He pulled in several 5* and 4* against the likes of tOSU and Bama.
ETA: He gets the job and retains Aazaar Abdul-Rahim(almost 100% likely regardless of hire), they'll have a ton of influence on that recruiting hotbed.

Chris Low is saying it's a real possibility (him and UT). At this point, assuming the SEC clears him (and I'm assuming they do - last year they didn't want him on any staff because Ole Miss was still under a bowl ban) I think it's safe to assume he will be the OC at an SEC school.
He's not dumb - he will take the best job/opportunity. That would be Bama if available. If not, good chance he ends up at UT, AU or LSU.

Alabama’s offer surprised Braiden McGregor in many ways
quote:
Braiden McGregor received an offer from Alabama on Saturday.
McGregor is a 2020 3-Star recruit out of Port Huron Michigan. The Tide’s offer is McGregor’s 17th offer. The news was delivered by Nick Saban and several members of his staff.
“After the game, I meet with coach (Nick) Saban, coach (Dan) Enos and coach (Jeff) Banks,” McGregor said. “They all offered right there. It was pretty awesome.”
Although the Tide is the 17th program to offer McGregor, they are the first to offer him as a tight end. Some schools have shown interest at playing McGregor at tight end, but none have offered. This made Alabama’s offer even more surprising for the Michigan native.
“I played tight end a little bit here and there this season,” McGregor said. ” I had some good highlights I guess. That is what really stood out to me. They like what they saw on the couple of plays on my highlight film, where I played tight end.”
McGregor hopes that the Tide’s offer motivate other schools to recruit him at the tight end position. Alabama’s coaching staff ensured McGregor that their tight ends will get more attention in the passing game in the future.
The Iron Bowl atmosphere also caught McGregor’s attention. He has been to several college football games, but it was something different about Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday.
“You couldn’t hear the person sitting next to you,” McGregor said. “It was loud all the game. The atmosphere was crazy. I couldn’t believe how energetic the fans were.”
It is not hard to see why teams want McGregor to play defensive end. He racked up over 90 tackles during his junior season.

There does need to be something done about our coaches being poached before the season is over. Like whats thr point of a national championship if our coaches are already thinking about their other team smh.

would the barn go after freeze if they end up firing gus next year? that could get interesting real fast.

I don't know what you can really do about it. That's the price of success, and especially at the level of what Saban has done. Everyone wants insight into what's going on here. It's a great problem to have.
The recruiting aspect of college football makes it virtually impossible to put any kind of stop to this.

I don't know if Freeze is clean enough yet to jump into a high profile HC position that quickly. I think it would take a few years. I mean he put Ole Miss on pretty serious probation in addition to the escort stuff.

There should be some type of time when you can and when you cant contact coaches.

As much as it seems a good match on the surface I don't believe it is automatic that Locksley takes the job. He is going to have to clean up a dumpster fire, deal with inept leadership, all while trying to compete in the second toughest division in college football. I could be wrong but this all feels a little "Jeff Brohm to Louisville" premature. Since this might be his last chance maybe he jumps at it, but there are plenty of reasons not to take this. I know he can recruit and he loves the place but the deck is heavily stacked against you being the Maryland head coach. It is a job that you are practically guaranteed of being fired from in 3-5 years.

What you say is true, but as a counterpoint: When is a better job going to open up for a guy who has a 3-31 record as a HC? I'd argue that all those issues are why Locksley even has a chance.
