Kareem was absolutely awful his rookie year but his team didn't panic and try to get rid of him like a lot of teams do nowadays when a pick doesn't immediately pan out. He's had some good years and bad years but this year he's having his best and playing at an all pro level. Pretty impressive this late in his career

Take Two: Can Alabama flip Nolan Smith from Georgia?

quote:

Take Two returns with a daily offering tackling an issue in the college football landscape. Rivals.com National Recruiting Analyst Adam Gorney lays out the situation and then receives takes from Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell and a local expert from the Rivals.com network of team sites.

THE STORYLINE

Nolan Smith has been committed to Georgia since late January 2017. He’s watched the Bulldogs nearly beat Alabama in the national championship game, and he’s had nothing but positive things to say about Georgia, its coaching staff and his commitment.

But the five-star defensive end from Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy has also made it no secret that the Crimson Tide have played a constant role throughout his recruitment and college football’s best team can never be counted out for a player it really wants.

Especially Smith, who is planning to visit Tuscaloosa for the Iron Bowl in a couple weeks. He was back at Georgia this past weekend and by all indications he had another fantastic time in Athens. He will see all Alabama has to offer during his trip soon.

For a player who has been committed for nearly two years, there sure is a lot of chatter around his status. Will Smith’s long-standing pledge to Georgia stand or he flip to Alabama come signing day?

TAKE ONE: JAKE REUSE, UGASPORTS.COM

"The level of concern on Smith varies from day-to-day, as he's decided to make the last month or so of his recruitment a guessing game with cryptic tweets and visits planned. Still, his presence in Athens on Saturday loomed large, and he looked to be plenty pleased post-game with the results. He's a cornerstone in the class, and Georgia has focused recruiting efforts toward him in a major way even with him being committed.

"In the end, I think the longevity of the commitment, the long-established relationships with coaches, and the closeness with the current roster bodes well for Georgia securing his signature when the time comes. He'll likely make the Bulldogs sweat it out plenty before then, however.”

TAKE TWO: MIKE FARRELL, RIVALS.COM

“I think he flips to Alabama. That’s everything I’ve heard. A lot of people think it’s already a done deal that he’s going to do that. I don’t think it’s advantageous. Both programs are great. Both programs would probably use him the same way and he’s going to be successful no matter what.

“Alabama is going to close really strong. It is the best team in the country and always in the top two or three when it comes to recruiting. Last year was a bit of an anomaly, so I think it’ll finish first this year and get a bunch of five-stars to close things out.”

Maybe Mike Farrell is just trolling.

The IMG games I watched Nolan Smith didn't even seem like he dressed out.

Saying he had little impact would be an gross overstatement. I think he is more athleticism rather then skill at this moment.

I'd prefer Kayvon tbh.

Tbh, I'd be happier with the trio of King Mwikuta, Kevin Harris and Kris Bogle. Thibs and Smith are a bit more athletic and more muscled up at this point. But I think those three fit Bama's culture much better, appreciate its value, are sold on it and will put in the work to be great. And they have great upside and more dog in them. I think they can end up being just as good, if not better.

247 Composite Rankings - WDE:
#1 Nolan Smith
#2 Kayvon Thibodeaux
#3 Kris Bogle
#4 Adisa Isaac
#5 Kevin Harris
#6 King Mwikuta

Harris and Mwikuta are early enrollees.

Bogle is apparently 200 pounds.

If that is true it will take him a couple years to make an impact.

Kayvon has the speed length amd explosiveness. He also impressed me more than the others in the camp videos and film.

I think 247Sports has an old weight on Bogle. Other sources indicate he's closer to 220 now.

Bogle looks pretty yoked up to me.

He's not 250 like Thibs, but he's heavier now than he was this Summer.

wouldn’t think so. I’m thinking the social media comment on last page was a Bama fan trolling our own base
why would I troll our own fanbase? Taulia deleted his commitment post and removed Bama from his bio....that’s just facts. May not mean a single thing tho. It was just brought to my attention by someone and I posted it here

DE Bogle Talks Miami as Alabama Pushes (InsideTheU | embedded video)

quote:

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- Cardinal Gibbons Top100 defensive end Khris Bogle is fresh off a trip to Alabama and while the Crimson Tide certainly appear to be trending up in the recruitment it doesn't mean that it's time to write off Mark Richt and Miami just yet.

Bogle told InsideTheU and 247Sports after a jersey presentation for the All-American Bowl on Tuesday that the plan is to still take an official visit to Miami next month before he makes a decision in early January. "I know I'm taking an official visit for sure to Miami," Bogle said. "I think it should be around December."

Bogle, who is ranked by as the nation's No. 3 weak side defensive end this cycle, has already used official visits on Tennessee, Texas A&M and Alabama. Bogle was also recently at Florida for an unofficial visit. It's unclear at this time where he plans to get for his fifth allotted official visit, but there are plenty of options. "The other schools that might get one are Oklahoma, Ole Miss or Florida," he said.

Miami has already hosted Bogle and his mother two separate times this season for games at Hard Rock Stadium. The Hurricanes also got the two on campus multiple times back in the spring.

"I just want to come down and see more," Bogle said when asked what he hopes to get out of his Miami official visit. "I have basically have seen everything already, but just want to get an opportunity to take an official and hang out a little bit more."

Bogle was asked about the Hurricanes' current four-game losing streak and if that has changed his outlook on the program. He said that a team's current form certainly will factor into his decision, but wins and losses aren't exactly viewed as a positives or negatives.

"It's a little bit of both because like if the team is winning I know I can go in and contribute a little bit and we will be more effective, but if a team is not winning I feel like I can come in and just compete and help the team win."

Bogle then went on to share his thoughts about Crimson Tide after spending the weekend in Tuscaloosa. "It was great," he said of the visit. "I enjoyed it. My player host was Mack Wilson so we talked. His story and my story are similar to each other's so it was good. He was in the same position as I am today. He liked a lot of schools and it came down to the last minute. So will mine."

Bogle is scheduled to announce a commitment during the All-American Bowl on Jan. 5 in San Antonio. He will then sign with the school of his choice during February's traditional National Signing Day. "It's the biggest stage and everybody in the world will get to see me commit," he said.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball currently reads 86 percent in favor of the Hurricanes with Alabama, Tennessee and Louisville also holding picks from recruiting experts.

Jordan Davis commits to UT.

Couldn't really see him coming back, though he gets to stay home and play for Pruitt.

That's a good move for Jordan Davis. We're likely to sign 2-3 other WDE/OLBs in our 2020 class. It doesn't seem very likely anymore that he'd be a take for Bama after Juco. Best wishes for him.

No he didn’t. He has the same pinned tweet from last year. You can google his Instagram and there are no LSU pictures. Clearly this was an attempt to troll. If not, then you got some bad info.

I looked after he posted it. I saw the same
thing. He’s not trolling. That being said, I have no idea what he had on his twitter account prior to that.

It really doesn't matter if Taulia made some changes to his twitter bio and posted some snapchat photos taken at LSU. It doesn't signal that he's considering flipping. Taulia is all Bama.
